I say yes, Duke/UNC is the best as far as consistent hatred/drama/proximity. Green Bay-Chicago?

Cal Stanford is a bigger rivalry

When you make your ticket office number Beat Cal it takes it to a new level

The Arizona Arizona St and New Mexico New Mexico St rivalry is hatred. That's football usually.

I would put MU KU and IU Purdue as great as rivals in basketball.

Missouri vs Kansas

We literally burnt down their fricking city.

A city, burnt to the ground. Throwing paint, or said mean words that these other pussy rivalries are rooted in have nooooooo comparison.

Ohio State and Michigan went to a literal war because they hate each other so much.

Michigan came out on top for that war (which was basically casualty-less, but there was bloodshed) although it was not thought that way at the time. Michigan got their upper peninsula and Ohio got the Toledo strip. The UP was indian territory but that didn't last. It's gorgeous country.

The states went to "war" not the schools.

In terms of how close it is, it's tough to find a rivalry as competitive as this.

Auburn/UGA is tied 55-55 in football and 90-90 in basketball.

Obviously, but that was basically the beginning of the rivalry. I'd say that means a little more than a phone number.
