Derrick Henry was not a good NFL RB for awhile. So did the Titans improve or did Henry?

Nah. He was always above 4 yards a carry.

He ran for over 1k and 4.9 ypc last year. I think we know who wasn’t watching.

Henry has great vision for the open hole.

Last night he was headed left. Saw a tiny hole to the right. Cut and went through it for about 60 yards.

He's going to be one of those Earl Campbell type of running backs. He is going to look unstoppable for five or six years but when the tread starts coming off the tires they are going to go down to the cords real quickly. Anyone signing him as a free agent who is not in win now mode is making a mistake.

No Henry was very mediocre and underwhelming last year. It wasn't until the end of the season where he got over 250 yards in a game and then upper 100s in another game where something clicked.

He was going down on contact at the line and had very few runs where he broke it.

He got over 1/3 of his yards last year in 2 games.

Is he a elite runing back?

The last 1/2 of 2018 & all of 2019 he has been the best running back in the NFL. Will it continue? But right now, he is as elite as the modern day RB in the NFL can be. It’s terrifying this is a question a grown man would ask.

Ehhh he wasn’t the best back in the NFL this past season but he was definitely number 2.

Dude’s a hammer though. The Titans need to go ahead and lock that boy Tannehill down long term and draft a receiving back with some shake and bake to them - a Swift or Etienne type.

Henry has some Lynch in him. Bigger, less wiggle and speed, but bulldozes like him. You don’t want him running at you at all, especially late in games.

Now. He isn’t exactly a pass catcher is his only weakness so far and comes off the field unless it’s short yardage.

Definitely less wiggle. But Henry at full chat is faster than Lunch. Lynch just has a bit better acceleration. It's the power vs acceleration argument. It's why you can never really answer who the fastest guy in the NFL is. KTO did a pretty good Video on this, uses Fournette as a good example.

This is somewhere Henry and LF are actually very similar. Henry and LF both have tremendous top speeds, they just get there slower than quicker dudes. Henry when he gets in the open field with enough space to get up to top speed doesn't get caught from behind. Neither does Fournette. Just takes them both 20 yards to fully get going.

It looks like a combination of both. I know for a fact that a lot of people here didn't see him play a lot in the last couple years because he ran like a scared bitch. But it was probably just Mariota rubbing off on the whole team.

Everything about him screams “wearing down early.”

You remember when LSU fans were appalled that Saban was giving him 35+ carries per game his junior season?

LSU fans gave CNN the fake outrage blueprint with their takes on Henry’s usage.

Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew had much better careers playing the same position, exactly where Leonard plays.

Which would be notable if the previous 14 had him w The same number of carries per game.

He had 40 carries in two games. The previous 4 he had 38
