It's funny people are losely tying Cousins to Atlanta because his wife's from there. Yet Fields grew up in the area and has a huge local following. Listen to local radio for 10 minutes. Fans are clamoring for him. Even if it failed, it would cost a fraction of what it costs with Cousins (which has to be just as big of a gamble) and locals wouldn't be angry they gave it a shot..

I listen to ATL sports radio every day. The only people who really want Fields are the same fans who always shite on Matt Ryan because he replaced Michael Vick even though he was a far, far better QB than Vick.

Only people? What would you say is the % that supports picking him up?
When I listen it seems like somewhere inbetween 75-80% of people want to get Fields or would be fine if they did it. It just seems overwhelming numbers would really like the move. Do you hear or see it differently?

IMO, there are two factions who want him:
1. The group who still views him as an uber elite talent with enormous upside (which he clearly will never hit because he can't read defenses fast enough) because of his high school recruiting ranking. 2. The Vick truthers who want him because he is black.

im undecided on pitts, but to play devil's advocate here, there is another common denominator in pitts not being good lol. it's kyle pitts.

I don't think so. Most of the radio hosts seem to view Fields as a Plan D or Plan E kind of emergency scenario and I think a lot of the fans agree.

But he's inaccurate and has bad throwing mechanics. And he's slow in reading defenses.Those are three things that don't improve once you are in the League for 3 years.
Sorry, he ain't it. And people need to quit thinking that he's this super QB just waiting to be unleashed. He's just not a good QB. Those are facts.

Maybe. But I'm willing to give him this year since he will be fully healthy and will(hopefully) have a competent QB throwing to him, something he hasn't had since his rookie year.

The vast majority of my friends are Falcons fans. I just want to see them do well. That's all.

Who gives a frick if he's local or not? Can he play QB at a high level? The answer is no.
As for the race portion unfortunately that plays a large role in this like VA said earlier. And it is split along racial lines for the most part. You have your outliers on both sides, but it is mostly a race thing.

People were just doing the same thing with Cousins and his wife. I was just following their lead. But it's definitely a factor for many.
I can think of a ton of HOF and SB QBs that didn't really start emerging until after year 3, especially when they were in horrible situations. It's not rare.
