Gretzky, but I'd rather be a really good basketball player rather than the greatest hockey player ever.

He'll be in the discussion, but he won't be the clear cut GOAT.

I think it's definitely Wayne. No one but a few homer Boston fans think Orr is #1.

I think it's a tie between Jordan and Gretzky. I don't think you'd find any reasonable person who disputes either them is the GOAT. If you wanna go less mainstream sports an argument could be made for Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps

Gretzky is clearly better. There probably won't be a better hockey player for a very long time. Jordan however has a better chance of being surpassed as GoAT in bball.

You can make a much more than reasonable argument for Bill Russell or Kareem Abdul Jabar

Says who? There's no one even close to Jordan right now. There's no one close to Gretzky right now.

I don't think it's a tie, or close to it. Neither have the most championships in their respective sports. Gretzky is light years ahead of his competition in every major statistical category. Jordan is not. Gretzky is by far the most dominant player to ever lace up a pair of skates. I don't think Jordan is as clear cut
