Even better question, how many games would Robert Parish have gotten for punching Bill Laimbeer in the 1987 playoffs, in today's NBA? The Chief wasn't even ejected or suspended for the following game 7.

Kurt Rambis at 6'8 isn't too far off from 6'10. You make it as if Rambis was 6'2 playing power forward.

The standing reach is the important thing. Kevin Durant is a genetic freak size-wise in today's NBA because of his length. Kurt Rambis is not. He would have below average length for a power forward, and would be outweighed substantially.

Back when the NBA was fun to watch. Also, in today's NBA, there would have been multiple suspensions for players leaving the bench.

McHale probably has a better low-post game RIGHT NOW ... than shite-bag Dwight Howard will ever have. (i.e. all he can do is dunk, either directly or via alley oop

On his worst day, McHale will still be able to school Howard in the post.

Today there would have been 5 players throwing punches while backing up , then later say they were disrespected

I like the announcers:

Immediately after.

"Now, lets see what happens!"

few seconds later:

"Well, you knew this was coming". "Well, there is a strategy in the NBA, don't let the other team make a layup. Make em shoot the free throws".

"And there is Larry Bird, who says, its part of the game you know."

Today that would mean about ten 10 suspension. Back then, it was strategy.

Why don't people understand how stupid these arguments are

If Kevin McHale was born 30 years later he would have ended up in the NBA, just like he was. He would have access to all the advancements we have today. It's not like he would just look the exact same as he was when he played back then

In today's NBA the player in Rambis' position would have laid on the ground for 5-10 minutes acting as if they had just suffered a career-ending injury only to return to the game relatively soon thereafter completely uninjured.

sure, they do, of course; but bird was able to consistently get those shots off back then. today, not so much

And if he played today he would adapt to the way it is now

The fact that that string bean is on the court is evidence enough that the game has evolved.

Yes, the game has evolved because humans evolve. You can't just pluck a guy from the 80s and stick him in today's game and say "see, I told you so!"

That's now how it works

I know I responded to your post, but I was just using to explain to the people who don't understand the principle of evolution

Yeah, to think McHale wouldn't make it is dumb.
