How much different will the team look in a couple of weeks? Who’s gone? My bet in order is Bryant, Kimbrel, Baez, Rizzo and possibly Contreras. It’s amazing how this team was set up to be a perennial contender to being a complete shite show in a four year period.

I know he has been down, but Baez is still someone they have to try and resign, and then in my opinion Contreras.

Bryant is not staying.

Bryant and Kimbrel for sure. Probably some other bullpen guys like Chaffin and Tepera. Baez and Rizzo are iffy to me.

It became clear in 2018 that this lineup wasn't going to work together for a full 162 game season, and they didn't really do anything to try to correct it other than hire a bunch of different hitting coaches. Then the Ricketts' financial debacle of building up the neighborhood shut down any desire to add payroll to fix the problems. At least we got 1 title.

There were talks of trying to extend Baez and Rizzo but has seemed to cool down. Baez wanting 200 million took care of that.

Still have him for 2 more years and just under 50 million. I's rather tank and rebuild until he is gone.

Bump after the Rizzo trade. That was a gut punch last night. I thought he'd be the last of the core to go. Guess it's time for a rebuild.

I’m just trying to not think about it but it’s terrible and Rizzo isn’t the end.

It’s weird knowing the heart and soul is gone and Bryant/Javy will be gone because people like happ and heyward can’t hit to save their fricking lives

Now that Rizzo is gone, if we trade Javy too, this rebuild will be worse/longer than I thought.

Hopefully Davies is gone first. Justin Steele is being stretched out and we need a spot for him. He threw 5 scoreless in his longest outing last night. As SP hes thrown 15.2 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 7 BB, 19 K. We comin.

Rizzo gonna resign this off season. We're pulling a Chapman with the Yankees. Rizzo's interview on the Score last night was telling. It's more than just the Cubs, it's the city and his charities. This is temporary. Rizzo will be a Cub again by January 2022.

Maybe but I also could see him wanting to be on a competitive team while he can.

It's not all Heyward. They got rings, and the whole organization moved to Easy Street.

Contreras.

I feel like they're going to keep him. Everyone else can go. Yeah, it'll suck, because these are "our guys", but let's be honest...the results have been underwhelming the past few years. Blow it up.

This is kinda telling, with him and his family after the game yesterday.

Yeah, that's not someone acting like they'll be back in 7-8 months.

No doubt. This core won a title earlier than it was thought they could, but that was the peak. They can't just keep running it back. Time for some changes.

Wish the Cardinals would have even a yard sale but Moe is too much of a little bitch to part with any of the bargain bin players teams might want.
