Yea, definitely should forego resetting the clock on having rookie pay scale at qb. Give fields some vet dollars instead

LSU fans would rather us take the 200lb soaking wet twig who can’t throw over the middle, had a high sack rate, and was mediocre his first years in CFB. The guy who feasted on having Nabers/Thomas dominating for him and will get broken in half with his slight frame. Basically a poor mans Fields.

I'd be thrilled if Jayden could avoid Chicago and Washington for that matter.

Also he threw for around 3,000 or more yards in 3/4 full college seasons and never had any major injuries as a "twig". He also routinely dotted the middle of the field when it was open.

Not sure if it’s worse to be a twig as opposed to a fig.

JD took some abuse last year and never got hurt. We’ve already seen evidence of Caleb’s mental weakness.

They should have signed Cousins instead. Caleb is not the answer either

Exactly. It's not that hard to understand.

Fields rookie deal was coming to an end and would need to be extended or franchised.

Decision comes down to if you think 4 years of Williams on rookie deal has bigger or equal potential to Fields on more expensive extension/franchise tag.

Except for the the whole choosing DJ Moore and a boatload of picks rather than drafting Bryce Young / CJ Stroud

We know what Fields is. Best case scenario is he’s a top 12 QB in the league, but we haven’t seen it yet. Even if the best case scenario pans out, Fields isn’t on a rookie contract anymore

10-28 is “barely a chance” ??

The Bears not giving Fields a chance

Traded the first round pick for Chase Claypool (pick 32)

Traded the first overall pick away when they could have taken Stroud or Young.

Acquired DJ Moore in the above trade

Gave him 3 years and Fields barely cracked double digit wins

He just turned 25 and only started a year in college before coming into the league. I think he is a guy that will play better later than earlier. The Steelers stole him IMO

I won't believe a man that paints his fingernails can be a good NFL QB until I see it

Trubisky only started a year in college, and was 24 when he won the division and was a Pro Bowler.

What's different about Fields that will suddenly make him better later?

If you watch highlights of Fields all his big plays are run plays. Thats not what you want from an NFL QB. Honestly Williams may throw a little more and be a little better but it’s the same. A lot of running around trying to make something happen. Neither are what I would want as my franchise QB.

Bears should take Maye 1st overall and with the weapons they have now he could succeed there.

I wouldn’t take Williams or Daniels. They both shined in college because of superior athletic ability and their receivers more Daniels than Williams with the receivers. I’m taking Maye or McCarthy if I am a GM. If Penix wasn’t playing after having all those injuries he would be in the conversation too.

I don't get why people believe Williams is a running QB. JJ McCarthy had more total rushing yards and rushing YPG than Caleb last season.

Just because he CAN run does not make him the same as Fields.

I don’t think it’s necessarily the running downfield which he does some but more the running around outside the pocket when a lot of times he doesn’t even need to.
