I'm confused about the Clippers/Lakers

Weren't the Clippers supposed to be the team to beat in the West? I saw that constantly on this site yet... it appears the Clippers are in 3rd place in the West and have 6 more losses than the Lakers. Surely this can't be true?

It's true, but the Clippers are the only threat to the Lake show.

George started off the year hurt and they do a lot of load management to keep guys relatively fresh for the playoffs, so the comparable records right now isn't a 100% apple-apple comparison

Clippers depth is going to be an issue for the lakers
Lakers size, rebounding, points in the paint is going to be an issue for the clippers

You haven't watched much NBA this season huh? The Clippers are deep and can win plenty of games while sitting their best players. Watch how long they sit George now with that irritating hamstring, it should be 10 days but I'll bet it's double the time. The Clippers are playing the long game especially with how well it worked with Kawhi last year. The Lakers on the other hand are a two man show and can't afford to sit either a whole lot and hope to keep winning at this clip. The fact that the best player in the world plays for the Clippers and the Lakers best player is scared to death of him doesn't hurt Doc's cause either.

I think that hammy on PG13 is gonna be a problem for him the rest of the year. All that load management hasn’t helped him

raps had a better record last year when kawhi was out And they are better this year than they were last year when he played. There has never been a “best player in the league” whose team is better without them. The year before he left San Antonio the spurs D was better when he was off the court than on. Kawhi is elite no doubt but damn did he get overrated AF when they beat the Warriors.
They would have got smoked if Klay and KD didn't get hurt. And yeah, he hit a game winning 3 against philly in game 7. The game was tied though. Game wouldn't have ended if he missed

Yep Raps would have beaten GSW without him with the form GOAT was in due to injuries. I give him props for beating 6ers but were they really a great opponent? No probably not.

The Clippers have five of the best seven players in a series versus the Lakers. Lakers have James and Davis but the Clippers have Leonard, George, Harrell, Williams, and now Morris.
Kuzma has not lived up to his expectations as a legit #3 for them. However the two headed monster of McGee and Howard is awesome and combined equal a top ten center in the league. So that is a plus and really helps the Lakers dominate anyone down low.
Clippers getting Morris instead of the Lakers was also huge.
Lakers needed one more legit ball handler or toughness player at the trade deadline and did not get it and I think they lose in 7 in WCF.

Yes when lakers are playing Houston, Clippers, Utah, or Denver they will have the worse three players in the court closing out games.
Bradley green kcp Caruso are all worse than any of the guys who will be closing games for any of those other teams.
