IF it were proven the NFL season is rigged, would you still watch your favorite team play?

I think most folks like me watch their team each week during the season, and I caught maybe half of the playoff games.

If the NFL was proven to be the football equivalent of WWE, I don't know what I'd do. I never understood the appeal of professional wrestling, but I never knocked it like many people do.

I guess if the NFL was proven to be fake, I'd probably continue to watch my team play because I've done so my whole life. But I'd also feel naive and betrayed in a sense.

Thanks for listening to my Ted talk. I look forward to your responses.

frick no. I’ve barely watched since the 2019 no call debacle.

Now that gambling is involved, good luck with the game being more ‘genuine’ than it was before.

Spoiler alert, it’s not.

Does not check out.

If you could change your user name to something else, what would it be?

I love the NFL more and more each year.

This past season I watched about 85% of the available windows (all games - M, Th, Sa, Su morning, Su afternoon, Su night).

I'd definitely be considered a "conspiracy theorist" by 75% of the population - I think pretty much everything that's happened in the last 7 years was a lie. If anyone is going to be open to a conspiracy, it's ME.

I'm telling you that the NFL isn't fixed.

I used to be a massive NBA fan. Once it was proven to be rigged I don’t know if I’ve watched more than a handful of complete games since. It would be the same for the NFL.

Serious question, is this the first time you've ever posted on here without relying on your schtick?

Not even trying to be a dick, but I think this is the most genuine thing I've ever seen you post.

It was proven rigged, in that Saints-Rams playoff game.

I watch occasionally but am not emotionally invested. Like Wrasslin.

Cheers mate - I am always genuine though. I think people take my posting style as cocky and provocative but honestly I'm just being goofy.

I hardly watch any football anymore because I know it's rigged.

I barely watch now as I find it a dull, sterile product. Much like what big time college football has become sadly.

nobody isc saying everything single thing is scripted. however, if you cant tell the nfl controls much of the outcome, you're not very smart at this point. same goes for the SEC helping saban led bama.

If it is fixed then it probably means more close and entertaining games. I would probably watch more.

The entire season being rigged?

That’s just too much. Too many fringe players who’ve been cut and are pissed. Too many disgruntled players from time to time. Like running backs this year not getting paid. People like that are easy targets for an interview. They would talk.

If anything it would be like point shaving. Players can drop a pass or skip a pass into the ground or blow an assignment. But that only shapes a game.

Refs can definitely shape and take over a game. Saints non PI call was the closest to it being obvious.

You are asking a LOT of young, many are dumb, men to keep a secret. A secret that would be worth millions to talk about in an interview. Somebody talks during a murder investigation. That’s under 10 people and one cracks. These are 1000’s of people across the league. That’s not a sustainable lie.

Talk to me about vegas and the league shaping the refs calls and how they will call a game to give the best outcome for Vegas and for profitable future matchups like the Super Bowl. I’m on board.

Anyone who thinks the NFL is actually rigged is a moron.

If it was proven to be fake then hats off because the acting, coordination and choreography involving hundreds of players, coaches and officials to make it seem all legit would be extremely impressive.

Stars aside, most average NFL careers are still under 5 years so it’s intriguing that most of these guys who don’t walk away multi-millionaires set for life still agree to keep quiet about things.

Better actors than Hollywood actors even.

So while it’d be somewhat a different type of curiosity to know who and what angle the script writers are going with (and why) in any given year, I’d probably only tune in once in awhile only because it may be “an interesting story”.

The NFL is rigged, but I still follow it on my phone on Sunday for stats on my fantasy teams. I enjoy FF, so as long as I play that, I'll loosely follow the NFL. I will tune in for the Super Bowl due to the parties/gatherings.

The SEC is blatantly rigged, but I will always follow because I love my alma mater. I generally just watch LSU on Saturday and that's it. I'll watch the bowl game they play in and sometimes I watch the NC game.
