Idea of Dallas having a 2nd NFL team?

What are your thoughts on NFL markets having 2 teams? It kind of infuriates me a bit. We are a bit accustomed to NY and LA having two even though i'd argue they are mostly undeserved, the NFL should be about spreading out the market, not just oversaturation and isolation imo. Why would Dallas need a 2nd? Cause they can? Why should Chicago? It does nothing but lessen the fanaticism of those markets imo.

On the surface, the notion of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sharing the Dallas market with another team is ludicrous, especially in light of the fact that many believe Jones would not want a team potentially horning in on the Cowboys’ turf in San Antonio. However, it’s one thing to share a market. It’s quite another to share a stadium.
Jones owns the facility in which the Cowboys play. He could take on a tenant. He could host another 10 games there each year, doubling the annual inventory to 20. He’d make a lot more money, and the Cowboys would still be the Cowboys.
quote:
New York and L.A. already have two teams that share a stadium. Chicago is an obvious candidate for a second team. Dallas is, too.
Beyond market size, stadium construction costs also become relevant. By putting a second team in an existing building, the cost of the second team’s stadium is zero dollars and zero cents.
And with the owner of an existing stadium standing to earn plenty of extra money by staging all of those extra games, why not do it?

so they'd still be hyped yearly to win the Super Bowl and inevitably choke?

Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Jerry won’t share San Antonio but he’s going to share Dallas…

well one option takes money away from him.
the other option makes him much more filthier rich using his stadium.

I’d love to hear that argument
As far as Dallas, seems like it would make more sense to expand to San Antonio or they could add an NFL franchise to Houston

I’m for putting another team in Los Angeles that no one shows up to watch.

Never going to happen in Dallas.
But, if it did I think it would need to be a Fort Worth team. Arlington is basically half way between Dallas and Fort Worth, and then the new team could at least try to build a fanbase separate from Dallas.

i like the idea, it can give all the transients moving to texas someone to root for. the call be called the Dallas Nomads.
that way the bar on sunday wont be flooded with a bunch of these people with weak roots in their gay steelers, browns, seahawks, etc jerseys. they can all bond with this team.

Cities and markets like kansas city, buffalo, new orleans etc is what makes the NFL great. Not fricking corporate shite holes.

NBA has lots of successful teams in middling markets. And the NFL only has to sell 9 games. Why not give Birmingham a shot, for example, instead of adding teams to existing markets? That's just the first city that popped in my head.

Nah, the North Dallas Bulls, and one offensive lineman at all times must be contractually obligated to change his name to Joe Bob.

I get the Jets and Giants. Thats the only two team situation (either current or potential) I'd ever be okay with.

This is stupid we are even discussing this. First of all Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson threw this idea out to pander to South Dallas. He is a complete & utter imbecile. He knows this place lives & breathes the Dallas Cowboys no matter how bad they are.
The mayor of Dallas has very little power the way the city is set up. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins has more power than the mayor & that limousine liberal did everything he could to try to shut everything he could down during the height of the China flu.
I think Jerry has already had a long talk with the Mayor & told him to keep his idiot mouth shut.

Yea it's insane that the combined metro of Austin / San Antonio doesn't have an NFL team yet (permanent Saints move notwithstanding). Both of those cities are in the top ten most populous cities.

I think it is a matter of time that San Antonio gets one. Austin.... UT would have a massive fit if there's a competitor to the local football market. Not very many cities can support Major CFB and NFL
UT is joining the SEC which will bring a greater quality CFB product to the Austin market

IF (and this is only for purposes of discussion) you had a second team in DFW, it would need to be in the far northern areas where growth is off the charts.
That would actually develop a real rivalry between teams as each would represent their part of the metro area.
