Correct. I believe they've tried opening universities in multiple states, such as one in East Texas.
Maybe they are trying to do it as a tribute to John and have the best of intentions, but dang...stuff just keeps looking shady.

If a parent was DUMB enough to give money to this sham of a 'college' they deserve to lose every penny. This 'college' was a complete joke from the get go. EVERY parent that sent their kid there did this to say their kid played collegiate athletics. I have zero sympathy for them, they thought they could buy a resume, they bought a soft turd.
I understand that sentiment, but the overall educational/awareness level of many of these parents also isn't of the highest order. There were folks in the Acadia Parish community the past couple years really trying to pump up the athletics of this school like it was McNeese or such, trying very hard to give it legitimacy.

Licensure and Accreditation Status
As of June 14, 2023, John Melvin University is conditionally licensed by the Board of Regents of the State of Louisiana. The conditional license is for three years and ***does not constitute accreditation, guarantee the transferability of credit, nor signify that programs are certifiable by any professional agency or organization***
Why would you even worry about doing the school work if your degree is worthless and credits arent going to transfer??
They now have a campus in Pensacola and another in Winter Park...Pensacola mascot is the Mohawks and the guy's son is their head baseball coach and the one in Winter Park are the Mangos...

No accreditation so their degrees are worthless.
Apparently they have in the last year been accredited by theTrans-Regional Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). I have no idea how legit or un-legit that is.

Ive driven through Crowley and seen this place.
Are yall saying its pretty much for travel baseball kids who finish high school and go there to be able to say they played "college ball?"
If so, the degrees should be in Baseball Organizational Management. Clearly these kinda folks are doing it to start their own travel ball organization, right?

I remember when their student housing description on their website was literally copy/pasted from LSUE’s website, but they forgot to delete the “LSUE” portion of it

That's pretty much exactly what they're doing, recruiting kids at the end of the line that don't get recruited to play anywhere else, or get cut from even low level college teams and are selling it as an opportunity to continue playing as a collegiate athlete.

About as legit as one out of this box

This. If you’re delusional and/or stupid enough to send your kid to this shithole then you deserve to lose your arse. If your kid was going here, they had no business playing college sports and they definitely were not receiving a decent education.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go to Melvin over Libtard Sports University

The campus is in an industrial building warehouse in the back of Crowley
I don’t know how low one’s intelligence must be to see this, and go along with it. Maybe the parents never stop by “campus” to see their kid. If I was a student and pulled up to warehouse and sheet metal buildings, there’d would be multiple red flags and an immediate call home.

I remember they made a big deal when they moved from the original building between the funeral home and scrapyard(seriously) to this new location but seems they've scrubbed all that as you can find no mention of this location anywhere, but here's Google Street view from Jan. 2025, it looks like they share space with a dumpster rental place.
It's an absolute joke that any parents would pay for and allow their kids to attend such a sham.
And here's what they were once referring to as the student union.

Some things like this have been happening at the HS level for years, mainly revolving around AAU basketball. You see a guy attached to an academy you've never heard of, check out the address and it's a Mail-A-Box store.
These people probably saw that and figured they could do it much much better at the college level.
But I just typed all that out to say that some parents are willing to go along w/ it even if they don't see any campus at all.

Could there be so many Travel Baseball Parents that invest five-figures a year for their Jaxsons and Cutters throughout youth baseball careers that are in denial that it didn't pan out and this becomes their last option?
What is $12k for one more season in hopes that a Scout finally sees the potential that no one else saw in their sons?
It looks like they also cut Basketball in addition to Football. The Basketball cut had to be strategic as those "students" typically don't come from families with Cash and maybe getting them to sign off on Private Tuition Loans (since no Federal Money seems to be available) went sideways.

At least they were just a couple stores down from Sam's Place. Nice spot to grab a beer and listen to some tunes.

It’s Bishop Sycamore, but on a collegiate level.
