Young is too small. It never works out

It can work out, but you better have Brees-like decision-making and accuracy. You’re simply not going to survive taking hits like a Josh Allen takes.

I do think his size is an issue. He’s basically the same size as Stetson Bennett and similar athletically. He’s still a great prospect imo because his game sense is so elite, but I also think the injury/bust potential is high.

When is the last time OSU had a QB come out of that system end up worth a shite in the NFL?

How many of these had actual hype to pan out in the NFL? Miller didn't even get drafted as a QB, he switched to receiver his last year at OSU. Boeckman I don't remember ever being a serious prospect, even OSU fans at the time admitted they were surprised they even made the title game that year because it was supposed to be a rebuilding year and Boeckman was just supposed to be a bridge QB.

Haskins (RIP) and Fields are really the only ones that had real hype to be future NFL starters. Even Troy Smith their Heisman winner was a 5th rounder.

Y’all forget Joe Burrow cut his teeth in that system?

I look forward to you defending Stroud in 2 years as he proves he is not a NFL caliber starting QB.

This is 3 separate systems anyway, so WTF are we even talking about? Does a Bama QB from 2003 who didn't make the NFL count against Young being a good QB in 2023?

These arguments are so bad

I haven’t forgot that he was at OSU. He played 2 years at LSU and became the QB he is there.

I’ll ask again. Name a NFL QB to come out of OSUs system and end up worth a shite in the NFL?

That's a lot of qbs that did nothing after their college days. It's all a system

If you are indicating in any way that Stroud's NFL career is in any way related to Craig Krenzel or Justin Zwick, please grow a brain.

There have only been 3 QBs come out of Day's system at OSU. The first 2 were first rounders. One is starting and just was the 3rd player ever to rush for 1k yards in a year and was middle of the pack in TDs and INTs. The other was a bust.

Stroud is far and away a better passer than either of those 2 guys.

When will people understand that QBs suck when they dont have good weapons to throw to. Burrow has great weapons and is good, AR had awful weapons and was bad. If you put AR on the Bengals do we really think he wouldn't be good?

And I’ll ask how that’s relevant?

How many TTU or Big XII QBs were “worth a shite” before Mahomes?
Oregon QBs before Herbert
Bama QBs since the 70s before 2021
LSU QBs before Burrow
Wyoming QBs before Allen
etc etc etc

It’s about the player not the school

You are the classic blind squirrel, it’s easy to say player X will bust, odds are on your side since most don’t pan out, but it has nothing to do with where he went to school, how a player does in the NFL depends on him and his NFL team not what “system” he ran in college.

If I'm the Texans, I'm drafting the Cal QB that entered the transfer portal. That system has produced some beauts.

Especially now, with the way that the NFL has adapted some of the "college" stuff in terms of offensive playcalling.

I agree. Most of the time bama QBs have to go to OU to become effective QBs

You are not incorrect with this post but it isn’t what we are discussing. All of those QBs come from schools who have not had QBs that were high draft prospects out of college like the ones from OSU. OSU QBs always look good in college.

Burrow is the first QB worth a crap there since Russell.

Oregon had Mariota who won the heisman but if my memory serves me right other than Herbert he has been the only other top prospect. Nix is trending to be a top prospect but we will see.

Bama has 3 QBs starting in the NFL right now. Tua can’t stay healthy, Hurts has his team at the top of the pack. Then losing while he was out seems to prove he’s much more important to that team than most gave him credit for. Jones seems to be doing not great but ok so far but time will tell.
