re: Hurricanes Owner put his young children on the Stanley Cup instead of actual players.

Apparently there’s a rumor that the Dax Dundon etching is the family dog and not a child. I’m not sure what this bothers me as much as it does but here we are

That’s not what the Stanley cup is about. It’s ok to call this out for the vain stupidity that it is. I have personally touched the Stanley cup before. Pretty cool experience a neighbor of ours hooked up. He was connected to the people who move the cup around and they host private viewings when it moves around at the NHLs discretion. He got to invite a few people to these viewings and he invited the neighborhood kids and their parents (we all played street hockey every day) so we could see the cup. Took pictures with it and everything and even got to plant a kiss on it like a lot of the players do after they win.

It’s north Americas greatest trophy. Maybe the worlds. It’s seen A LOT. And winning hockey’s playoff system is by far the most grueling of the 4 major sports in North America. I don’t think it’s debatable having to win 16 NHL playoff caliber games + the games you lose along the way is in doubt as more challenging than a Super Bowl, the NBA Finals, or the World Series. People who go on that cup should be people who directly contribute to the championship and the team. The NHL sells the Stanley cup the way I’ve described it. They should treat it a little bit better than they have been IMHO.

The Borg-Warner Trophy is a close 2ed.

Those who have a problem with it can go buy a NHL franchise, put a team together, and win the Stanley Cup. If 55 names can go on it, as long as the players/coaches names are on it, who really cares?

You have no right to talk about respect for the Cup… how many NHL goals did you score?

As a big hockey fan and being aware of most of the rules to get your name on the Cup, I find this an insult to the game. The Stanley Cup is sacred and for so many past players who contributed significantly to their team's success still couldn't get name on the Cup because of injury or trade, this is wrong.

Yes, he's the owner, but I think it's bullshite he puts his family on there that had nothing to do with the cup and hopefully this stops. You would think the engravers would stop that before it happened.

When the Stars had it it spent a lot of time at a fully nude bar called The Clubhouse which was run by Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbot of Pantera. I fell in love there one day at lunch.
