How true is this? ULM haven't had a winning season since 2012 and might downgrade to D2

This is old news.
Sure, the smaller schools have budget issues, but let's not discuss the budget issues of our flagship.

That school in Monroe needs to drop down to D2. Like yesterday.

The board of regents is looking into it for all of the smaller schools including LA Tech & UL-L

100% true.

Speculation. But they need to make a change. They've been an FBS program for 33 seasons and have posted 1 winning season. They have little to no resources. Its not working.

FCS, not D-2

ULM's Football budget is what UCLA spends on Friday meals during the season. Let that soak in...

ULM, Tech, ULL, Southeastern, and McNesse has potential for a fun conference

I get irrationally annoyed when people mess this up

Louisiana is relatively a small state. It has fewer people than Minnesota and Wisconsin. Both states have only 1 FBS team. All the other public institutions in LA should go down to FCS.

Well up until 1994 that's where they competed assuming by Div 2 you mean FCS and not what is actually Div 2.

LSU (obviously), Louisiana Tech & that school in Lafayette are the only 3 public schools that even deserve to have a shot at being FBS programs. Tulane is a private school & they can do what they want. Everyone else in the state should be FCS or lower.

Do wins and losses really correlate to financial performance or need to drop a level? Seems like overall financial position of the university (or university system or state) are bigger drivers? There are 138 FBS. I would think most are in the red

Yeah, but they all put Louisiana in their name thru a process that makes the state pay excessive shortfalls
ULM, ULL etc State holds a lot of liability. Like the LSU heslth system years back. Malpractice suits etc basically was a plaintiff suing the state

It was called Division 1-AA.

ULM should have moved back to FCS a long time ago. The Independence Bowl is probably their peak. The Indians were a force in D1-AA back in the day.

0% chance they are dropping to D2

Back then yes; today it's FCS. I'm fully aware.
