Rangers guys are thinking Langford may be called up after the first month of the season. What about Crews and Skenes?

Better question is are they both invited for MLB training camp? Pirates pitchers and catchers report today. LINK

Those two will definitely be in camp
Skenes will get the call before crews

Langford decision will be dependent on playing time
Rangers are not carrying him on roster to sit the bench
He needs everyday playing time to continue development

Yeah but you make spots for guys like that via the bench or trading guys

No it isn’t. They will most assuredly be in camp. They’re the #1 & 2 picks from the most recent draft.

Barring injury, Skenes should be up by June.

Both were announced 2 weeks ago

Skenes

Crews

I think both will be called up some time after the All-Star break.

I’m a little confused as to why Langford is getting the hype train over Crews.

Langford is raking at every level. I am not aware of how Crews has done but Langford deserves the hype. He is the best of a rather thin Rangers farm system who are the reigning WS champs (not including Carter in this discussion).

Because Langford murdered the ball for 44 games in the minor leagues last season. He moved all the way up to AAA in that span where he kept on hitting. Crews did just fine in his 35 games in the minors, however he did stall when he got to AA. The Nationals are thrilled with Crews and not down on him at all, but for the very small sample size late last season, Langford outhit Crews.

Langford was the best pro prospect in the draft.

At least after time passes where the team can push their free agency back by a year due to the years of service rules

Because it is an absolute certainty they will be invited to camp

And I missed it but I guess they already announced that they are. Regardless there was never any doubt

Because Crews struggled in AA and Langford absolutely dominated each level he played at last year and is already at AAA

I mean small sample sizes obviously but that's why people like Langford right now

He slashed .208/.318/.278 in 85 plate appearances

Most had Crews and Langford pretty close before the draft and one performed better in their short minor league run. Both will probably be great

This is true. However the Nationals front office isn’t concerned because it was a small sample size and they said his exit speeds, pitch selection, and all the necessary traits were there, he just had some bad luck on hard hit balls. They felt that over the course of a season that would have evened out. Like I said, the Nationals aren’t worried at all, in fact they were thrilled at what Crews did last summer.

But you have to give credit to Langford in that in his small sample size, he kept hitting great at every level in the minors.
