Yeah I’m sure Goodell said “hey, let’s have that murderer go out a winner”
Roger Goodell says he'll continue to use Ray Lewis as a sounding board
I definitely think the NBA is, and I can see an argument for the NFL. MLB not so much.

Not what I was arguing. I was saying viewership didn't go down despite the scandal of a ref admitting to fixing games
The OP is asking precisely that whether the leagues are fixed and mentioned PManning winnng the SB his last year and someone else mentioned they wouldn’t do that because it would cost them viewers.
While it didn’t shut down the league it wouldn’t surprise me if some fans weren’t turned off by it stopped watching.

No chance beyond a 1 off like Donaghy

The leagues definitely try to tilt the outcome. Look at all the bad REPLAY calls that went New England's way last year.
But they still didn't get their preferred outcome.
I agree to an extent. Television and bean counters have preferred outcomes, but it's not flat-out rigged.
And I do think it's interesting that the Patriots got HFA/Super Bowl on a questionable catch reversal in Pittsburgh. But once they got there and it didn't matter anymore because they were there, the exact same decision went the other way.

Except you had an NBA Ref admit to fixing games and people still watch.
you must have missed this part of my post

But i do 1000000% believe refs have too much influence on games
has nothing to do with the nba being rigged. It was an idiot, not the nba organization conspiring to rig games.

I believe they try to dictate the outcome by helping the team along. I think it has a lot to do with how much money Vegas has on the team. There's a reason why sports betting always makes a profit.

Sure they'll take a strong position sometimes and not move/slowly move the line. But the juice is the bread and butter.

Peyton Manning was retiring so they let him win a Super Bowl same as Ray Lewis. How did Cleveland come back 3-1 against a 73-9 GS team.”
Don't forget Jerome Bettis...who won in his hometown of Detroit.

he NBA is so rigged they let all of the semi finals finish in 5 or fewer games. They hate money that much.
Because the balance of power is the same now as it was when Donaghy was betting on games while officiating

hen people bitch about games being rigged, they're usually implying the league is intervening to make sure a particular player or team advances.
Point spreads, over/under, etc. It’s way deeper than just a team winning and losing but if you’re not one to gamble on sports you would feel that way

not just that they’d lose viewers, what’s being alleged is ILLEGAL. I
No it's not

While we call these leagues "sports," they are in fact businesses. Their business is entertainment. The NFL, for one, has actually argued this fact before the Supreme Courtas recently as 2010. Being "entertainment," the leagues are legally entitled to do what is needed to entertain their audience, such as the creation and promotion of certain "storylines." Despite arguments to the contrary, this makes the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL on par with Roller Derby and Professional Wrestling.

Officials should be required to meet with the media after games to answer question and face scrutiny.

I don’t think the outcomes of NBA games Are predetermined, but the league has had a hand in “influencing” a lot of aspects of the sport that has made fans suspicious of outcomes. Certain refs are known to call favorably for the home teams and they always seem to miraculously be on the court when the home team is down 2-1.
Patrick Ewing to the Knicks. Frozen envelope. Rigged.
Lebron to Cleveland.
Cleveland subsequently getting 3 number one overalls after Lebron left.
Entire Suns team getting suspended.
The league subtly moves the needle. They don’t fully take away free will. They just add...parameters.

I believe the SEC is rigged for bama.

I'm sure the league has a preferred outcome, but I don't believe they actively ensure it or the Orlando Magic would have lost to Cleveland in 2009.
I do believe it's very easy for a referee to impact a game, particularly for betting purposes, but I don't think it's some conspiracy from the league.
The 2006 NBA Finals was definitely heavily influenced by the refs. In Game 5, Dwyane Wade shot as many free throws (21-25) as the entire Mavs team (21-25). In Game 6, the Heat shot 37 FTs to the Mavs 23. And Dwyane Wade shot almost as many free throw attempts (21) as the entire Mavs team had combined.

The calls that benefit Bama the most come in non-SEC games.
2011: LINK
The kick is clearly inside the post. This one's been talked about a lot, so no need to further elaborate on it. This probably gets called good if Alabama won the GoTC.
2012: LINK
No way to conclusively tell if Ertz was in. If it was a 1-loss LSU or Texas A&M leading the SEC West, it's not called a touchdown.
2017: LINK
The least impactful call of the 3, but still worth mentioning. This call gets made if Auburn and Bama's resumes are flipped.

Yep. They adjust lines and odds so the same amount or close to it comes in on each side and the losers pay off the winners. The vig is the profit.

Re the several references to Vegas, a relative who is a retired-after-31-years-bookie, as always said that "everything goes through Vegas" when it comes to betting on sports. And it does go way beyond the out come of games. Watching a Vegas expert on ESPN, commenting on the recent U.S.Supreme Court ruling, there was a gaming board in the back ground & there was easily 50+ "bets" available: "what quarter this QB throws his first interception; what's the score at half time of this or that game; number of punts in this game or that one", etc. He said "fixing" ( not necessarily of game out comes, thus the gaming board) but fixing in general has always been out there but now with so much easy access to sporting information while a game is in process, it's "gotten 100 times worse". It drove him into retirement as he no longer wanted to play Vegas' rules. But he was clear, it's Vegas running the gambling, not the league offices themselves. He asks, "why is Vegas THAT good at point spreads?" And the number of play off games played in a series has nothing to do with tv money. That amount, in every sport, remains the same whether a series goes 4 or 7.
