I watched every second of Mavs/Heat in 2006.
It was insane how much they wanted the Heat/Dwayne Wade to win.

He had free throws whenever he wanted them.

AND.....Bama is completely taken care of!
Watch a Bama game................whenever they are in trouble they get a call that bails them out . Whether it be a hold on a big 1st down by the other team.....or a non call on a big play by them.

Its pretty sickening how you can watch their game and know almost exactly when the Help will come from them.

I am having a discussion with some co workers that believe every apsect of professional sports is rigged to the point that the league knows who is going to win championships before the season starts.

Apologies if this comes across as dismissive, but your friends are simpletons.

Conspiracy theorists are the strangest creatures. They appear to honestly think they are being clever, but they're completely oblivious to the elephant in the room, which is that it is really REALLY hard to pull off such endeavors. Why? Let's count the ways:
a) people are inherently lazy
b) in a given group of five people, four oft hem are dumb as frick
c) A hypothetical Person A might have four or five people on the entire planet that he belives he can legitimately trust. The remaining seven billion five hundred ninety-nine million nine hundred ninety-nine thousand nine hundred ninety-six he actively distrusts.
c1) I forgot to mention that people are instrinsically skeptical of the motivations of others, even if said others are in the subset of those they trust. Thus, Person A is skeptical of the motivations of a mere 7.6 billion other people on this here spherical rock we call home.
d) The entire recorded history of civilization is a virtual macro case study for the notion that human beings are almost completely incapable of keepings secrets.
e) etc. etc. etc.

Couple all of the above with the fact that it makes no sense from an incentives perspective to rig pro games in the vast vast majority of circumstances.*

And yet professional team sports are rigged? Balderdash. Really, just silliness.
Putting on your thinking cap, mr. conspiracy theorist simpleton guy, you real american hero.

Do you understand the concept that “Money is the root of all evil”? And some would sell
Their souls for $$$

And cheaters are quite clever. Not lazy as you imply. They are always looking for that edge.

It’s not just that they’d lose viewers, what’s being alleged is ILLEGAL.

NOPE. Legal.

It is listed as "entertainment" and is treated as such. That's why no fan, season ticket holder, etc, can sue any sports league. They are immune from that due to the "entertainment" clauses in their descriptions.

If you aren't entertained, quit watching.

No it's not quote:While we call these leagues "sports," they are in fact businesses. Their business is entertainment. The NFL, for one, has actually argued this fact before the Supreme Courtas recently as 2010. Being "entertainment," the leagues are legally entitled to do what is needed to entertain their audience, such as the creation and promotion of certain "storylines." Despite arguments to the contrary, this makes the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL on par with Roller Derby and Professional Wrestling.

The fact that this post was ignored is hilarious for this thread. I hadn't read through it all before I replied.

Good work, Jody.
