How is the WWE associated with the Big XII???

Yesterday's Big XII Football Championship was sponsored by WWE.
College football is a truly competitive sport that represents America's finest academic institutions.
WWE is a bunch of human growth hormone-enhanced thugs dancing around in choreographed "matches" for the benefit of low-IQ, uneducated sponges.
The University of Texas is one of the world's finest academic institutions.
To have the "Undertaker" on stage with the University of Texas' Chancellor was embarrassing and beneath the reputation of the University of Texas!

Fox shows the Big 12 a lot and also has WWE Smackdown on Friday nights so they did some cross promotion.

Traditionally? Jim Ross is an Oklahoma super fan who would come out to the Oklahoma fight song. Whenever Oklahoma got their asses kicked, they would typically do an angle on the air of someone fricking with him over it.
JR hasn’t been with the company for years, but that was likely the start of it.
Past that, the WWE has done NIL deals with athletes who may potentially consider wrestling in the future and they have been willing to throw money at attempting to get mainstream credibility at various levels of success. (WWE NY restaurant, XFL, etc).
Sponsoring a football title game is an extension of that kind of thing.

The extent that some grown ups are, or pretend to be, offended by pro wrestling in 2023 never ceases to amaze.
WWE is a $9B company with largely family oriented content these days and licensed products everywhere you turn pretty much globally. Anyone who wants to make money would be crazy not to consider an association.
