Blaming the refs is a losing mentality. Point blank. Look at the LSU-UK basketball game. The LSU fans were chomping at the bit to say the refs cost them the game and it was a SEC conspiracy, up until the very last second of the game. Now it’s the UK fans saying the refs cost the game. The common denominator is the lack of acceptance of responsibility for failure and wanting to blame someone else. It’s embarrasing.

It seems as though you are crying about crying.

So if a teams best player has to sit a quarter bc of a call made on just “one or two possessions” how does that not effect the rest of the possessions?

Yes, and to think a team without its best player bc of a bogus call isn’t at a disadvantage is retarded.

ref blamers is one thing I have never understood. I can expect if from kids, but not adults. Sometimes the other team is just better. You don’t have to complain about the refs every game that you lose.

And sometimes a ref is literally fixing games to win bets he placed on said games.

I never said disadvantage numb skull.

I said the refs are never the only reason a team lost. You can never blame a game entirely on the refs.

Unfortunately, referees are humans. Given that, there is to be expected some officiating error in games. Surely, these missed calls or strictly missed calls, and there are no other outside influences for these missed calls, right?

If a guy had made a few of those jump shots in the fourth quarter then what donaghy did in the third would be irrelevant. How many games do you think he tried to fix that didn’t work out the way he wanted to? We know It was a ton of them. No matter if he tried to fix them or not he couldn’t make that ball go in the hoop or not. Only the players can do that.

An impact? Yes.

The deciding factor? No.

The exact same thing could be said about any play or player or coaching decision. Basically its a meaningless thing to say.

Its like if a guy shot and killed a man at a Circle K he is only one of the many impacts that caused that death. Also impacting the situation....the gun manufacturer, the seller, the victim, the victims wife who asked him to run to Circle K.

Its a dumb fricking pseudo-intellectual thing to say.

I know you’re a huge troll on here and I hope that’s what your comment was attempting to do

I don't think anyone is insinuating that every single game has some sort of ref conspiracy to manufacture a result, but to be so cavalier as to say that there aren't a number of refs with ulterior motives is either naive or just being intentionally contrarian. When there is documented proof of an NBA ref actually having fixed games and subsequently incarcerated for what he did, it is not unreasonable to believe that Donaghy is not an isolated incident. Gambling has reared its head into sports since betting on sports was a thing. Donaghy wasn't the first or only and won't be the last.

Just because you see homer fans complain about refs in every game there is not some common denominator, as you put it, that they're all full of shite. There have been enough point shaving scandals and documented evidence of a referee going to prison to indicate that it's not always as simple as "Players determine the outcome of games. Not refs."

No it isn’t.. It’s as simple as “man up” and not blaming someone else when things don’t go your way. Ie blame shifting. look at your self first. What could we have done better? Before being so quick to point the finger elsewhere.

Blaming the outcome on one or two possessions influenced by refs is as pitiful as it gets when it comes to blame shifting.

What if those 1-2 possessions change the next several minutes or even rest of the quarter by a star player having to sit with foul trouble?

Get ready to bump that when the refs don't call a foul on GS against Harden this year in the playoffs

What’s worse blaming refs or blaming a strip club trip that’s called a concussion?

Boom makes every excuse in the book each year the Rockets are eliminated in the playoffs or when Harden doesn't win the MVP. Every year, without fail. It's never that the Rockets maybe weren't the better team.
