for a DB, for the vast majority of schools
Oregon almost won a title with shitty arse Daron Thomas playing QB. that should tell you how great that system is

Pretty sure they recruit a lot out of California. More than enough talent there for everyone. No different than Oklahoma raiding TX for a lot of their players.

Because they're good and they're fun.

They copied Colorado and went into areas where schools wouldn't recruit due to clearinghouse.

Yeah actually SVP (I believe) was talking about it. I wish I could remember the numbers of State breakdown.
But dude if you were an 18yr old Cali kid would you want to go to that shite storm USC right now? their facilities are terrible and in a bad part of tome. UCLA is just now getting better so why not go to Oregon get fresh gear all day every day and play on a team that score a billion points etc
I think you catch my drift

They'll play anywhere.
After getting screwed in that Nebraska fiasco they knew they needed to step up their ooc schedule. It was perception, Nebraska was a household name, Oregon wasn't. They wanted to change that.

You have to apply to the clearinghouse when being recruited.
The clearinghouse evaluates transcript classes etc.
To even sign scholarship you have to be cleared. That's why MS Jucos so strong most kids from there can't get through clearinghouse.

Yep the system. It has nothing to do with developing players and making them better.

the word was that Chip had pretty much said Mariotta was gonna be the starter. and rumors he wasnt gonna be eligible because of grades anyway

They just recently got these nice facilities. So that hasn't even been really used as a recruiting tool yet.
Wrong. They've been slowly gaining good facilities for some time now. In the late 90's they constructed the finest indoor practice facility. Players worried about the rain didn't have to worry about practicing in it constantly.

wasn't he not eligible b/c he had mailed in his last semester, though? he went the CBB route

Much like Nike, Oregon has managed to brand itself as the "it" product.
As much as most of us think the uniform stuff is stupid as hell, young recruits these days eat that shite up.

Darron wasn't great, but he became something. Never said he was a star. He was a good point guard who didn't turn the ball over. Qb's have won a superbowl being that type of player.

Have you seen their facilities? Getting all that money from Phil Knight tends to help with the recruiting part
Every school worth a shite has great facilities.
The answer is the paychecks.

I thought Bennett was better personally. dude was just as good at running and a better passer.

Not saying I am smarter than Chip
