It would be great if your mother died in a miserable way and then when you were at work a couple years later someone specifically made fun of it

Proper Heckling never involves personal things to somebody. Back in college, we would heckle the opposing bullpen and usually ended up talking to them and becoming friendly.
Say some funny shite about how the guy looks, his cleats, or his grades or some shite. Leave family out of it, makes everybody look bad and is unnecessary.

Dox the frick out of the fan. Let the chips fall where they may.

This. Completely trashy and unacceptable. The fan is lucky he didn't get to the FO part after FA.

Again. Do we know he specifically mentioned his mom dying? Or was it some drunk Chicago guy saying “hey Marte I texted your mom!” Or some variation of the same dumb shite that is said in virtually every ballpark in America multiple times a game much less over a season.
My buddy played for UCF. When they had a series against LSU, fans in the outfield knew his mom, dad, and current girlfriend’s name at the time. They heckled him relentlessly. He actually thought it was amazing that college baseball fans cared that much as most away series were in front of empty bleachers. He gave it back to them and said it was the most fun he ever had on a random series.
If this dude is bringing up dead moms crucify his arse, if he’s just a dumbass with unoriginal yo mama heckling in front of his retarded Chicago buddies seems a bit extreme to ruin his life. That’s not even personal, it’s just like saying “you’re fat” or “you’re ugly.”

If it was intentional and not a generic Mom joke then frick that guy. Personally feel jokes about family are out of line in general

Anyone who does something like that just reveals themselves to be a horrible, mean-spirited person. Over a game. Ridiculous.

He has been indefinitely banned from every major league park.
Heckling is fine but buying a ticket to a game or buying a team’s merchandise doesn’t give fans a blank check to do or say anything they f**cking want. Period.

I've sat in the bleachers for a Cubs game, it was pretty brutal on the outfielders
But it never crosses the line.
I've sat in the bleachers once at Wrigley and was down low, like 3rd row. I was very impressed with how the bleacher fans police themselves and how the ushers do the same. They take pride in being fun, but keeping it in check.
One drunk guy started yelling f-bombs and an usher came over and very politely told him to stop. Very non-confrontational and effective. I was impressed with the culture.

Of course this is way off base, but I would think a grown adult should be able to deal with a death of a parent after 8 years. I was extremely close to my mom and she passed away 3 years ago. If some idiot yelled something at me about my mom, I wouldn’t cry.

So many fans are idiots and take this crap too seriously.
I wish it was fair game for athletes to whip a fans' arse. Now THAT would be fun to watch.

I know Saints fans saw and heard what the Bears had to say about Katrina in 2007, along with the Colts fans in the Super Bo
Fans are going to talk shite especially on their home turf. I went to Auburn in 2008 and got Katrina jokes multiple times. I blew it off. I always had a rule of not fighting on the road.
That being said you don’t talk about a man’s mother. Dude should have gone Joey Belle on the guy.

Honestly.........kinda agree with the earlier post.
Go kick the dude's Arse dont stand there and cry. Its not like it happened yesterday.
And before anyone gets all high and mighty..........I lost my mom and dad around that same time. Also, my 1st wife died 8 years ago.
Yes the fan is a jerk...........but come on man.

Yeah athletes going into the stands and fighting fans is a great solution.

You don’t talk about another man’s momma unless you’re prepared to get punched in the teeth
People have gotten too used to saying and doing whatever they want with no fear of consequences.
I read that the fan was banned from White Sox home games. I also read that he was extremely remorseful and nearly in tears in his apology AFTER the incident.

My Mom's been dead for five years, but Owlfan still makes comments about fricking her.
Of course, he's a massive piece of shite.

It was probably unfunny and lame, but I have serious doubts some random white Sox fan (if those even still exist) specifically targeted this dude and knew his mom was dead and it would really tear the dude up.
