If they want to make that sketch accurate they need to remove 85% of the fans in the drawing. The high school games will draw more than any Ga State game

That place will be standing room only when ULM comes to town. May have to play it at the new dome.

In repurposing Turner Field into Georgia State’s football stadium, the venue will essentially remain the same in size. The planned renovation will have seating initially for 23,000, with a future phase adding another 10,000 seats.

I take it that they will put a tarp around the upper deck? It is just a weird concept turning this into football stadium. Also, the parking lot across the road of the outfield (where Hank's 715th HR) is being turned into their baseball stadium.

I have no dog in this fight, and don't really care about the usage of GSU between the 2 schools, however:

Ga State started playing football in 2010 and joined "FBS" in 2013. Ga Southern joined "FBS" in 2014 yet has a pretty rich history since the Erk Russell years and had more talent than State. Southern beat them in 2014 in the first matchup but State went to Statesboro the following year and beat that arse while following that up with another victory this past season.

So Southern can pound their chest all they want with this "real GSU" argument, but they might want to try and prove it on the field.

GSU wants to grow their athletic dept but they also want to cater to their "diversity" push which pushes away their white alumni

God forbid a commuter school in Atlanta caters to a diverse crowd.

According to my quick google, it's 40% black and 30% white.

Much like Houston, if GSU starts to win people will go to the games. The fun belt with them app state, one of the bama schools and southern could find its way to being a decent confrance

Umm you do know Southern has been in FCS since the 80's?

That looks weird. They aren't using like 1/3 of the stadium, maybe almost 1/2.

Seems they could have done better.

Of course I know that. What does that have to do with anything? They had a rich history since the Erk Russell years, in FCS, and jumped to FBS in 2014. Again, what does that have to do with anything that I posted?

Yeah, but it still has to be cheaper than building new. And at least the Ted gets to still be used in some fashion.

I read it wrong I thought you typed FCS not FBS.

Long story short, after we won the Sunbelt our first season, Jeff Monken took the Army job. Then Willie Fritz coached for two seasons, and left for Tulane. Now we have shitty Tyson Summers who can't coach to save his life.

We also run the triple option garbage.

While I really support the use of turner for this, it looks half assed. I thought they would take down the eastern portion of the stadium.
