Howard isn't that great and tonight was just another example of that. He's big and clumsy and soft.
He brings it at times, but leaves so much to be desired.

Being "average" isn't good enough. He must improve tremendously on defense if he wants to lead a team to a title. I highly doubt it happens
I don't think its the worst thing ever that he isn't an elite defender. But, it does seem like most of the greats and those guys who carry teams in the playoffs have had the ability, if just only for spurts, to go lock down the opposing team's best player.

In his prime defending years, Lebron would say frick this when Rose would start heating up, and go make his night a living hell.

Harden seems incapable of that. Seems stupid too, because he has the athletic ability to be a really good defender. But it looks like he doesn't give one frick.

How upset are you that morey said on grantland that he is content with these team's core group going forward?

Well, I believe that team chemistry is worth something, so I'm not entirely opposed to that idea. That being said, we have a number of holes that need to be filled (a quality starting PG, someone [other than Harden] that can create their own shots, a more qualified head coach, etc.).

I have a feeling Morey won't feel obligated to keep any particular player because of a comment made on Grantland, though.

No one has ever made him play defense. What's Mchale gonna do? Bench him?

He doesn't like playing defense, he's a pure scorer.

Howard is a classic example of flash and hype and "Superman" bullshite that looks and sounds cool. However, he's not the guy you want next to in a foxhole so to speak.

When Kobe called him soft, it confirmed everything I ever thought about Dwight Howard. Unrealized potential because he doesn't have the heart or will to be ELITE.

GM's in all sports overpay for athletes all the time. This is one of those situations. You can have Howard, I'll take Zach Randolph.

That's cool. Then he doesn't like rings either.

Among SGs:

5th in blocks
1st in steals
2 in reb
1st in defensive win shares

Howard is leading the whole NBA in rebounding and blocking shots this postseason. SOFT?

Then why have the Rockets lost 2 consecutive games by 30 points?

This is a choice we didn't have to make. Dwight was available, Randolph wasn't.

Dwight Howard isn't our issue, though. He's been good for us.

The Pels turned down a Zach Randolph for Eric Gordon one for one trade. That tells you all you need to know about a Howard - Randolph comparison.

No of course not. He does have a big hand in it though. Then he goes out like a weak punk getting ejected. He just doesn't have "it".

Notice you never see that from Tim Duncan. You never see Lebron pull shenanigans like that. Howard is a clown and he doesn't care.

Oh yea I know. I was speaking in terms of if you could just randomly pick players. I'd take Blake Griffin over Howard too. That's another guy showing tremendous improvement.

The kind of improvement Howard hasn't made to become elite.

Are you insinuating that you judge players based on past decisions, regardless if they were proven good or bad later? That's an awfully lazy and ineffective way to judge players.

Lead the team that sent Lebron packing from CLE the first time. What more can he do he already is the premier rebounder and shot blocker in these playoffs? His teammates need to step up this isn't even close to being on D12.
