the pick and roll was NON EXISTENT after our playoff run. Tyson Chandler suffered immensely when teams figured out what the Hornets were doing. ANd his rebounding was down as well, to make matters worse. And he was a whiny bitch

So you don't think Tyson was a good fit. Then you would be happy that he was opting out and clearing cap space for moves to be made.

I agree that Okafor got thrown under the bus too quickly, but he's still over paid for what he provides. Statistically he really wasn't down from his normal production considering his reduced minutes. He was what he's always been more or less.

okafor was no where near as good for the hornets as TC was from 06-08. chandler was our defensive anchor and was one of the league leaders in rebounding. okafor played like a bitch most nights.

chandler hasn't been healthy since may 2008.

Are you sure? Okafor looked miles better than Chandler and he did not have the attitude problems that Tyson has.

It has everything to do with the contract and less to do with play. He has like 5 years left at 13 mill or so a year. Thats absolutely ridiculous for his production.

Okafor might be a really good player in certain situations, but he's undersized, can't run the pick and roll to save his life, and he's not an "above the rim" type player. CP and David West need a 7 footer that can run the pick and roll and play above the rim. Terrible fit. Terrible Contract.

I'll believe Chandler is "healthy" when I see him play a full season.

The guy had one . . . one . . . great year with the Hornets.

No real offensive game other than the alley oop.

Good rebounder and decent defense, though.

Actually, the Hornets indeed would have been better off if the OKC deal had gone through.

Let me be clear, I don't want TC either. I wish we would have kept him so that we had that contract expiring.

he was healthy to start 09, his toe was supposedly healed and he re-injured it later that season.

and he was a shell of his former self, even when healthy that year. Points and rebounds were down. Ally oops were down. Whining at teammates and officials was up.

he was a good fit when we made our run. Because he actually performed, and played with some heart, like he actually cared.

in retrospect after this past season, of course many people wish that we had his numbers coming off the books.

but next to no one thought that at the start of next year, with the possibility of going into the year with a frontline player worthy of the D-league.

like i said, dont count of Okafor yet. A new coach and new system could do him well. A whole year meshing with his new teammates. Throw out his contract; he can still help this team win games and will be an integral piece to the puzzle in 10'

Kinda hard to do

He was on the bench a lot during the fourth quarter this past season, so I'm not to sure about that, but like you said, maybe with a new coach will change that and he will be a better fit with the Hornets

1. Bower had to make moves because Shinn was a cheap frick

2. Why the frick would Chandler opt out? He wont get overpaid again like he was.

trading for okafor was more costly than keeping chandler for one/two more years.

Not from a luxury tax perspective.

Trading for a longer contract put 1 million in Shinns pocket. He probably knew he'd be selling so he didnt give a shite longterm.

I'd take Chandler over Okafor in a heart beat.
