True. It’s up to these guys to decide when they have had their bell rung too many times vs career earnings. Luke Kuchely made a smart move.

What made that obvious? Was it the name "bottlenose" or the picture of a dolphin?

Classic conditioning. When the powers that be tell you that something is true a thousand times, it’s hard to deny it. See COVID as a recent example.

You will always have those types, but the vast majority of people would not have given it a second thought. Concussion decisions are typically taken out of the players/teams hands and are supposed to be decided by an independent 3rd party medical profession. Whoever made those medical decisions about Tua will need to have their contract reviewed by the league

But he played because he didn’t want to let his teammates down and help his team win.

Which is why an independent medical doctor is suppose to make the decisions for head injuries

I’m not saying to cancel football. I just hope the dude doesn’t risk his well-being. He may need to quit football

This! It's a violent sport and has always been. Every year there are players getting paralyzed on some level...it's part of the game. The fact of the matter is the game is probably safer than ever but these types of injuries will always happen. The players know the risk.

Wait, what?

In what world does "no one feel bad" for cops or linemen or whoever else when they're killed or badly injured on the job?

We should shame and punish the dolphins and keep watching the teams who do it right. I don’t have to personally feel bad/guilty and lose interest in a sport because someone got hurt knowing that that was a risk.
Why would you not feel bad for Tua?

I feel bad for him personally but I’m not going to feel guilty for paying money to watch people play football like OP and others are saying

By losing interest and talking about how much time/money he has put in watching football it implies partial responsibility for this stuff because it incentivized people like Tua to play when they can get life altering injuries.

Dolphins? I may have some catching up to do on this story, so what protocols did their doctors not follow?

Tua also needs to be held accountable for his own “I’m fine” dumbassery. If his ego caused him to assess his situation inaccurately, then he needs to own it.

We really have to stop letting individuals externalize the blame for their own safety.

He was definitely tonight enough.

Are you saying Tua should make decisions based on what sports fan might say about him? Or do you just enjoy fussing at sports fans for not being consistent or as caring in their criticism?

How’d that work out for him? Seems like players should be held accountable for many more of their own decisions - not just when we criticize QBs for throwing a bad pass into double coverage.

Did you ever play football? Lots of players play with injuries because they don’t want to let their teammates down. It’s just part of the culture of the game.

We won't all know the true pain of this until Kirk Herbstreit cries about it.

It's a shame he's an unpaid slave, forced against his will to work that job.
