I’m hard pressed to choose between the Whalers and the Nordiques.

Is there something you’re looking for? Good history? Cool uniforms? Strong team now (to bandwagon)? Bad/rebuilding team (to “grow” with)? Does location matter? Do you want to be a fan of a team with superstar(s) or would you prefer a team that’s more of a “team game”? Would you rather a strong offense or good defense/goaltending?

Penguins.

Good history, a lot of great past players, and currently down so you can't be accused of frontrunning.

I do this anytime I follow a league where I don't have a local team. I pick the team that won the championship the year I was born.

The Flyers

Ok they are arse, but I started following them years and years ago when Eric Lindros and John LeClair were running things. And by running things I mean played great until they ran into the devils in the playoffs every year.

Oilers.

I played on the Oilers in junior hockey as a kid.

The answer is the Kraken.

That’s if you want a team to grow with… they have very little history. So it’s easy to catch up on that and fit in.

Not a ton of star power, but they are fun to watch. Their pipeline is loaded and their AHL team is also fun to watch.

Their broadcasts are top rated (1 or 2, depending on the year) in the NHL, and they have solid podcasters covering them (Sound of Hockey is fantastic).

If you want a win-now team? Stars or Avs.

Want a young team that’s only getting better? The Canadiens are sneaky good.

The Mammoth are my #2 team. They are like the Kraken, but two years ahead window-wise.

Lifelong Bruins fan here. At least if you cheer for them you won’t be a bandwagon fan because we suck.

Atlanta will have a team by 2030 IMO.

So the Nordiques will be back by 2040?

I am a Caps fan....

But the Blackhawks have been down for quite a few years with great players. They will continue to trend the right way and you can watch rise.

And they are part of the original six and have a great logo.

A girl that works in my town’s Jersey Mike’s loves the Blackhawks and she’s always bitching about their goaltending.

I've always like the Avalanche. Patrick Roy was fun to watch back in the day so I just kinda stuck with them

Honestly don’t know

Most Avs fans I know IRL and on here have been around since the Roy Sakic Forsberg days - like myself

Many hockey fans just appreciate Makar and MacKinnon but don’t necessarily like the team

However living in Louisiana it’s tough to tell
