Private Catholic Colleges, even if a lot of students are from the metropolitan areas like San Francisco, Marquette and Holy Cross aren't really what I'd consider commuter schools. Loyola-Chicago probably fits that description as well.
Wyoming is just a big state university.

When I think commuter universities Houston, Memphis and Louisville immediately come to mind. People even refer to the U of M as Tiger High.

They call U of H cougar high for a reason
Did you see the crowd shots of their fans? Looked like the cover of a community college catelog

Somebody give a quick definition of "commuter school"
Posted on 4/7/25 at 10:00 am to OGtigerfan87
My definition is
“Big school in large city where a large portion of the students are fans of other P5 college in the area”

City College of New York is the only school to win both the NIT and the NCAA Tournament in the same year. (1950)

That’s the definition of U of H.
This is from google
“85% of U of H’s students commute to school”

Isn't St. Johns "commutery"?
Fordham (not sure if they ever won the title, but they have like 10 billionaire alumni, never understood why that program and its football program are not better).
DePaul
Temple
George Washington
Loyola Chicago.
Again, not sure how many of these won titles, but all at times have had very good periods, like a decade, of very good teams.
