Duncan and Garnett were the best players on those teams. Rondo was nothing more than a role player and 4th best player on that team.

Of course Duncan was better than Parker, Duncan is better than all but maybe 10 players ever, but Garnett was not better than Rondo in the playoffs. Rondo is EASILY a top 10 player in the NBA during the playoffs, if not higher.

IMO there was no one guy on that Pistons team. It was basically a team of role players who fit together perfectly. On a separate team none of these guys could carry a team to the finals on their own. That particular pistons team was a Robert Horry shot away from going back to back with no real superstar on their team

I agree for the most part, but if you have to pick, I say it's sheed or billups. Rip was a scorer, ben was a defensive role player, and tayshaun was a perimeter defender and shot maker. sheed and billups were the most complete players. I watched a ton of games from 2003-2008.

Can we go back to the OP where it was stated that John Wall was in the top tier?

That is as a ridiculous statement as there is in this thread.

A great PG is the absolute best asset a team can have. Even if the rest of your team sucks, you can beat anybody with a great PG.

I think you worded a strong defensive center that can actually score incorrectly.

let me ask you this...would you rather a healthy Chris Paul or a healthy Tyson Chandler?

Tyson Chandler is overrated defensively and he is not a good scorer (yes he has the highest field goal % and blah blah but he basically only takes open shots and dunks, never creates his own shot)

CP3 is the best PG in the game. Tyson Chandler is not the best center. A good defensive center with actual scoring ability can take a team to the finals pretty much by himself. A bad arse PG can take a team to the playoffs, but not the finals.

He is referring to when they actually won their championship, not present time. When the celtics won the championship Rondo WAS the 4th best player on that celtics team at that time. Obviouslly now he is probably their best player but we arent talking about right now (when they suck). We are talking about when they won the championship (when they were good).

Rip was the one. They were a great team defense but the offensive burden was without a doubt on Rip

I really dont care for Westbrook, its not as bad as it used to be, but I still dont care for him. BUT, if youre having a draft of guys you want on your teams in the playoffs, Westbrook is way up there. He can take over and he can fly.

Too many people can play it adequately enough to win. Jeff Teague didn't make this list but he is still good enough

He has had a terrible last month & a half

If Rondo is ahead of Kyrie, it isn't by much. Kyrie will be a top 3 PG next year. For the team he's on, the numbers he's put up so far in his career are fricking unreal.

bullshite.

The Cavs are never on ESPN or TNT.

Therefore, Rondo>>>>>Kyrie

It just depends on what you want out of your PG/what you like to watch would determine which you like better. Sometimes Rondo looks like the best PG of all time on some nights. When he dropped 44 on the heat. That whole series really. Then he'll go out and miss 50 free throws in a row.

No joke, if Rondo played every night like it was a game being televised by ESPN, TNT, or NBATV, he would be the best PG in the league.

Why he decides to be lazy some nights is mindblowing to me.

Every nationally televised game, he puts on a SHOW.

There are so many good PGs because they're practically impossible to guard with the rules of today's NBA. A fast guard can do whatever and get to where ever he wants on the floor. But the position for the most part isn't nearly as important because as some have said, there are so many adequate guys. The difference between #6 PG and #20 PG really just depends on his team and the number of opportunities he gets on his team to make plays

yep

Rondo is the perfect case of the assist padder. He looks for assists to the detriment of the offense at times. It's very apparent, and it holds that team back

exactly. was going to post this. he's a great player. but he is an assist hunter.

also re: parker and rondo. duncan was robbed of finals mvp b/c parker scored more. rondo definitely was 4th best on the title team. and ginobili > parker
