Herbstreit's reasoning to predict Oregon as the national champion

uh, yeah Kirk, last year, Auburn (among other ranked teams). Not hating on his prediction, but the SEC dominance is just on a different level today than it was 5+ years ago. IMO, gotta go with the SEC champ until proven otherwise

He's assuming, like everyone else, that those wins are going to get stripped in a couple of that years.

Even if they do we all know what actually happened on the field.

Not only is it stupid based on recent history but he's discounting the fact that Alabama and LSU would only have to beat the other one. And presumably if anyone is capable of running the table in the SEC, it might be 2 teams that you think are very difficult to beat.

But hey, you're on ESPN, say what you want.

I thought this same thing when I saw that on espn. What an idiot. He's just pleasing the west coast, nothing more. Dude's credibility went WAY down.

considering he explicitly said outside of the SEC has any team ever beaten both teams in the same year i think thats a pretty good guess that's what he meant.

thread fail.

yeah he definitely said outside of the conference. but that is like the 3rd time i've heard him say that thing about oregon beating us and alabama as if it has this really great chance of happening. I'm waiting for him to imagine some play and be like "can you imagine andrew luck hurdling TWO defenders and then throwing a ball that bounces off a lineman and then RUNNING IT IN FOR A SCORE? Have you ever seen that before?"

You should have listening instead cause he clearly says outside the sec, he paused after saying beating LSU and added it.

If he was asking in an out of conference way thn its kinda dumb- i mean, how many teams not in the sec have ever played bama and lsu in the same year? Sounds like he realized hat was said was stupid and went to covering it up later.

Still, I don't follow his logic, but granted I didn't see the show and the OP isn't that clear...

So, no one has ever beaten LSU an Bama in the same year (OOC); therefore, Oregon will win the NC? Seems like the previous statement would indicate that Oregon would NOT win the NC.
