And the World Series is during football season and the regular network tv season and it still outdraws the NBA Finals which has zero primetime television competition.

Things that stood out to me...

With no Olympics, after Alabama/Clemson it is pretty much just the NFL (many of their regular season games have 19 million viewers plus). So basically the NFL could have 40 (plus) of the top 50 again.

The mens World Cup Final (without a US mens team in it), outdrew the fighting Raoinoes by almost a million viewers.

LSU / Alabama football is STILL a big draw. In short, for regular season games, only tOSU / Michigan outdrew it.
For that matter, the game between the Tide and Bayou Bengals outdrew the Iron Bowl and LSU/Notre Dame from 2018.

Interesting stuff.

you know the ncaa tournament is fricking incredible when texas tech and virginia are in the fricking final and it's still 2nd most watched outside of nfl

Doesn't hurt that it was one of the best title games in modern history. That was a classic.

Reading the MSB you’d think NBA was king. Smh

You’d also think everyone was boycotting the NFL for a few reasons

and youd also think that people in this country are becoming infatuated with soccer and that it will soon become a major sport in this country

this just confirms what everyone should already know. the NFL is king by an insane margin, theres a three way race for 2nd between college football, the NBA, and MLB, and soccer is a complete and total afterthought

Nfl draft first round was higher than the masters final round
Masters final round was over by 1pm on a Sunday and many didnt realize there was a schedule change. It wasn't a normal year to use for a comparison.

and the same could be said about the NBA given the fact that one of the two competing teams was from a market that is not measured for these ratings

Can you guess which got better ratings?

1) CWS Championship Game (Vandy/Michigan) vs MLS highest rated game (Atlants/NY)

2) NBA Draft Lottery vs NBA Draft

3) Home Run Derby vs Indy 500

4) NFL Draft 1st round vs Masters Final Round

5) CBB Final (UVA v Tech) vs NBA Final Game 6 (Raptors/Warriors)

The one's listed on the left got higher ratings.

I'd like to have seen where the Masters landed on the list had it not aired so early on Sunday

not much watched by everybody in the country any more

Of course, all those numbers don't account for all the watching in public spaces like bars

Anyway, 16 million out of 330+ million to get into the top 20 isn't something everybody saw, even if you multiply it by a couple or 3 people per TV set.

In 2016 they started this program

quote:

The PPM device, which panelists carry with them, will allow Nielsen to measure television viewing in places like restaurants, bars, airports and waiting rooms. Nielsen will rely on data from more than 75,000 PPM panelists located in 44 local markets, which the company can use to project out-of-home viewing in more than half of the U.S. population.

The measurement will be a boon to news and sports networks like CNN and ESPN, which have a large out-of-home audience that has never been properly measured, so it's no surprise both companies are on board with Nielsen's new service

I'm impressed with the Gold Cup final drawing 8.5 million viewers for the 40th spot.

So both middle-of-the-afternoon Saints games soundly beat both Cowboys PRIMETIME games.

But hey, keep fricking that chicken, TV executives. Clearly you are smarter than me.

Find it hard to believe that the Champions League final isn't in the Top 50...because it usually has more viewers than the Superbowl.

Going to guess this list just takes American viewers into account.
