Every one of us is "closer than we've ever been" to a career move/retirement/death with each passing day.

McElroy says it’s unfair to speculate, and then proceeds to speculate and make unsupported statements.

Yeah there’s definitely a lot of conjecture here, but it’s plausible. Saban has been pretty vocal about his disdain of NIL.

Hate to break it to you but Tuberville has a winning record over Saban and lol at Alabama electing a democrat.

Now, I think there are a lot of players that view it as an obligation — 'Man, if I could just go pro, I'd go pro right now. I don't care about Alabama.' And don't let their Twitter handles fool you. A lot of these guys don't care about Alabama. They use it, they look at it as transactional.

I do wonder if LSU having a majority of the roster from Louisiana helps combat this sentiment. But also I think it is a little hypocritical to criticize the players for viewing their relationship with the school transactional when the school has always viewed the players that way

The game has changed so much in just a few years. He’s getting up there in years and I’m sure is getting sick of dealing with all the bullshite

I will be honest, not that I would ever be considered, but damn, I would not want to be Saban's replacement.

yes, if you take the quote 100% literally, then yes, every moment is the closest.

And I’m older today than I’ve ever been in my life.

Saban is a great coach but there has been a sea change in college football between transfer portal and NIL.

I don’t blame him at this point

Basically McElroy just said he's closer to retirement, which is obvious

With his bank account and age, I’d be so done. I don’t have his competitive fire, though. Hopefully he doesn’t retire and drop dead like some people do. I respect him and appreciate him setting LSU on the path he did.
