I think he could still be one of the best, even in today’s NIL landscape. I just don’t think he would want to. It makes no sense. The Bama dislike for Deboer is funny. Last year aside, he’s one of the best in CFB…but nobody will compare to Saban.

People are wishing too much with this. He has said in the past he enjoys mentoring youth into becoming men and that he would enjoy coaching at the high school level in "retirement".

Yeah coaching HS is the only place I can see back in. It’s not like he needs the money. Nor does it have nearly the stress or time commitment a CFB HC job would have. He can still be directly engaged in the sport and young men’s lives without the rest of the hassle.

But I wonder if that HS would make him “teach” a regular class like many HS coaches do. Imagine Saban being your finance teacher

I don't understand the talk about how he wont come back due to NIL, the entire time his teams were dominant they were paying recruits and such under the table

Doesn't he still have an office at Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium?

I could see him helping out someone for free during spring training or fall practice, maybe even a small school, working with defensive backs, just to get back on the field and have a little fun doing some actual coaching. But he ain’t running a major program again, not in the NIL era. No way.

This. If he’s getting back into coaching it’s to actually coach at this point.

Exactly the kind of old school teacher these kids need.

It’s really funny to me that I continue to hear this. Do I need to mention LSU and children’s hospital funds? Perhaps Auburn and their Bagman? You got your butt kicked regularly by the man, and I guess you need to invent a reason. But, carry on, please. We can’t wait for your next post.

Arkansas will come calling with Wal Mart and Jerry Jones money. Already hired a good BB coach, and the baseball team is top notch. Plus, playing Texas/ATM every year, he can steal recruits. Plus, from what I have read, NW Arkansas is a nice place to live. Just saying.

The media coverage Saban brings would be the hassle… he coached and won too recently to just go into obscurity like other former college coaches that dropped down

In a way the sport has retired him… no significant program is hiring him at 74 as a head coach.

Is that why Arkansas has been irrelevant for the last 15 years?

Bad decisions all around. It happens everywhere. Arkansas had always been one of those football programs that cant seem to get it right. Petrino did a good job until the co-ed wheelie incident. His character got him fired. They have money and facilities

I think you overrate their donor base. They should’ve been killing it in NIL if their donors cared.

Its a double edged sword. You have a valid point. Flip side is do players want to win and get paid or just get paid?
