We weren’t on the bubble. Neither was Florida State.

Yeah that’s a bummer, and also why you have fricking backups.

Not a good look Greg but they did the right thing. The whiny, crybaby lsu fanbase is easy to laugh at.

From what I watched, the four best teams in the country are Michigan, Texas, Alabama and Georgia.
So you agree the “but they take the best teams” trope isn’t true and is only applied arbitrarily.

Why the change of heart, Bama alum and ESPN shill?

I’ve only read the 1st page, so this may have been discussed, but I think Greg goes out of his way to not come off as a Bama homer. A lot of times even so far that he can come off as biased against them. I don’t think he goes that far, but I bet he’s made some Bama fans pretty mad over the years.

That said, I don’t think his change of heart has anything to do with him going to Bama, it was 100% an order sent down from on high by the ESPN powers that be. And I actually feel sorry for those guys who get their marching orders to give takes that fly in the face of what they believe. But ESPN is so powerful, that if you want to work in College Football, you’ve got to do what you’re told. FOX is growing, but there aren’t that many gigs. And since there are tens of thousands of YouTube podcasts, it’s hard to break out on your own.

THAT said, I think when he made his original statement, he was probably pretty convinced Bama had no shot against Georgia. They were just coming off that miracle win at Auburn, and Georgia looked like they were hitting their stride and were getting Bowers and some other guys back from injury. I don’t he would have made that statement if he knew Bama was gonna wind up winning.

ESPN is the devil and deserve much ridicule and animus. I give McElroy a pass here. Sometimes you have to eat shite if you want to keep your job. frick Rece Davis, frick Joey Galloway, and frick Herby. Greg is one of the good guys, he just hasn’t built up the juice to go against the ESPN machine yet.

What kind of gaslighting is going on here?

Your squad needed not one but two miracles to be beat barely-bowl eligible Auburn week before last bro. Looked like it was sleep walking against USF and lost to Texas…at home…by two possessions. How many games did FSU lose?

That's why they're sitting at number 6 right now

Except they were ranked fourth after all of those games you just cited by this very committee. So… no, pretty sure that can’t be the reason.

Your Bama envy

Well, this might be the only semi-accurate point in this post. I do kinda wish my team was a media darling that got the benefit of the doubt time after time. And hey, in some respects, Bama has sort of earned it. They’ve been one of the most dominant programs in all of sports. They’ve built up goodwill over the past decade and a half.

But make no mistake, that’s what this is. Goodwill. Hard to be invested when you know that’s what it’s about, but I do hope that you enjoy the invitationals this year

Bama barely beat a terrible Auburn team with their starting QB. Also barely beat USF and Arky.

Why is the standard different for Bama?

It is OK. I already know the answer.

At this point, saying "goodwill" is being very generous.

You can call it what it is: Corruption.

Everyone who has been a fan of the sport longer than 20 years can see it for what it is.

If people think a 12 team playoff will solve the corruption, you better think again.

Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, and other Tier 1 Media darlings are going to be in the "top 12" no matter what. It is going to take four losses to eliminate someone like Bama next year.

It is going to make the already WWE approach even worse.

ESPN is the reason the playoff has become a joke from the start.

They are the reason the BCS become a joke.

Just like everything Disney touches turns to shite, so has college sports in general and football at most.

Playoffs are pointless if you are not putting in teams that earned it on the field but deciding it based on who some random group thinks will make the best games.

Why does Bama barely beating Auburn and Arky with Milroe get ignored? Why does Bama's win against shitty USF ignored? They would also have to acknowledge they won a close game with a shitty QB.

Why do you simp for Bama despite supposedly being a fan of another SEC team? Saban, Bama, and ESPN aren't going to send you a gift in the mail for the blow jobs. In politics, you are what is called a "useful idiot".

With the rise of easy betting and the insane amount of cash to be made, the mask is off that all sports are rigged.

The suits and powers that be have an outcome in mind and the officiating is directed to achieve said outcomes.

Stop getting emotionally invested in what is scripted entertainment.

The WWE was a co-sponsor of the Big 12 championship game, the mask is off and we are all fools for continuing to pretend like sports are not rigged.

My question is who told him what? Did ESPN tell him to shut the frick up? Why though? Why would they do that unless they have some reason to?

ESPN has the broadcast rights to the CFP. They are the CFP. So yeah, it was ESPN. As to why they were told to change opinions, maybe it’s just because of their SEC investment. Greg is also a homer so he could easily change his tune for bama. I don’t know how productive it is to dive any further into the “why”. The “who” is nevertheless noteworthy (including UT).

Honestly it should be a very transparent lesson on how the media works. They make obnoxious salaries to do what they’re told, not for their opinions. See “threat to democracy”. Tv personalities across the country all parroting the same exact thing at the same time.

72 hours later he says it should be bama and they should choose by who they think is best. . That isn’t odd to you?

Watching that show it was quite clear everyone except Booger was reading from the same script. Right from jump. First talking point was "best 4 not 4 most deserving" which was something new and they kept parroting that line the entire time.

The NFL is unwatchable at this point with how blatantly rigged it is. It is like a non-stop SEC game with Bama as the home team every Sunday.

Only difference between the WWE, SEC, and NFL, is that the NFL does a lot of stupid shite to protect the star players. CFB doesn't care about the athletes unless they play for the media darlings.

No shame in being the BEST team in the SEC. There is no shame in being the BEST conference in America. There is no shame in beating the BEST team in the country for the last 3 years, in their backyard no less.

And there certainly is no shame in being one of the 4 BEST teams in the Playoffs.
