Seems to me that there's minimal chance that he'll be back in CS next season. And it seems he's destined to flame out.

I was surprised about the license plates that were JFFmom and JFFdad and their daughter had to tell them it was a bad idea

What a great kid

And his parents are worried and concerned about all the attention their son is getting, yet:

Paul also had the usual half-dozen items for his son to sign, things given to him by family friends or mailed to the car dealership he runs

Whenever he'd see his parents, they'd always have a carload of things to autograph.

The counselor told Johnny to build walls around himself, set boundaries. First, his parents' autographs should be limited to ?half an hour a week

Seems like he grew up,with no boundaries and with a set of parents that just wanted to he his best friends. Now he is doing some questionable shite and A&M is trying to set boundaries they are getting all pissy at the school.

Sounds like a major headache, but winning cures all I'd assume in a few months. Just hope shite doesn't hit the fan in the next 5 months.

You just described pretty much every parent from Generation X.

This article makes me pity him even less. I've gone from being a fan to almost rooting against him. Sounds like a little bitch many times in this article.

Not sure what to think. This one article is not going to shape my opinion much though.

ESPN The Magazine has been known to make stuff up, leave stuff out, take things out of context and basically drive an agenda with pretty wreckless disregard.

I no longer find them a trustworthy source so I'm not taking much from what has been known to be a sensationalist group lacking basic journalistic integrity.

Highly advise people to take anything by them with a grain of salt.

Isn't Wright Thompson the guy that made that awful awful 30 for 30 about Ole Miss that had basically nothing to do about football?

I finished the article. Have decided it was pretty fair overall and did not paint JFF in a good or bad light really.

His father should have at least called him out for that. Instead, if you believe the article, there was silence. That explains everything. Rich kid with parents who'd let him get away with murder.

After the amazing Freshman year he had, it's almost guaranteed that he's going to regress this year. Plus, his offensive line took a pretty big hit if I'm not mistaken. He has to know that this year is going to be a disappointment. He'll be good, and he'll be a relatively high draft pick in the draft next year, but he'll never have the spotlight on him like he does now and he'll probably miss it one day. It's a classic case of too much too soon. He's a victim of his own success. But no doubt, he's a douche and could have handled this better. We won't be talking about him nearly as much next year at this time.

But considering the year he had regression =/= a bad season. I would personally be surprised if he didn't at the least play solid to the tune of 20 passing td's, under 9-12 INT's along with about 10 rushing td's. A&M probably needs more production than that to win anything they haven't won in awhile...

And if I give up on him, who's gonna take over? The school sure the hell isn't gonna do it.

The rift is more profound. Many people close to Johnny Manziel no longer believe in the integrity of the institutions charged with protecting him

Both his parents believe he won't return for another season in College Station

Out of the whole entire article, this stood out to me the most...

I don't know or pretend to know what goes on behind the scenes at A&M, but I think this speaks volumes about how that program is run..

The most interesting part of the article is definitely the rift between the Manziels and A&M. At this point, even if Manziel tears his ACL on the first play of the season, I have no doubt he is going pro in January, and I'm really not sure how he will do in the pros.

Fwiw, I was completely shocked that Vick was considered a unanimous first pick by NFL scouts. If Vick goes first, I'm not sure how Manziel doesn't go top 5, but if I was holding a top 10 pick, I'd be scared to use it on a 200 pound guy who is best scrambling, although this is exactly what Vick is as well.

And I'm not the least bit surprised about the tension between the Manziels and Sumlin over his million dollar raise.
