I’ll take the opposite view for a hot take - hockey, which has already declined in popularity over the past 15 years, will be put out of its misery by this ESPN relationship.

Similar to NASCAR, The NHL will soon face a “too white” situation where some black player gets booty blasted about a “burning cross” made out of hockey sticks in the locker room. ESPN will go hardline SJW and run off the last few diehard hockey fans left who are majority white, taking the NHL’s meager revenue stream with them.

Any team could get high ratings if the media just shoved them down our throats and nationally televised 80 percent of their games, including the Jaguars.

LSU 19 is clearly the best team ever. Look at how many top ten teams they beat. 15 is better then 13

Brett Favre is the most overrated quarterback in the last 30 years of the NFL.

American professional sports should embrace lower leagues and relegation. Let some hungry franchise from some mid-tier metro area like Memphis or Boise or Richmond have a shot rather than keep letting some sad sack franchise like the Lions or the Padres just sit there and cash checks year after year.

Why you want attendance to bottom out.... that’s not really a hot take.

Now YOU saying “I know sports”. Would be a hot take......

Maybe in this flag football era

I’d say 2006 and 2011 LSU were better teams

Having pitchers hit in the national league is the dumbest rule in all of sports. They havent batted since high school, but are expected to hit off of other major league pitchers.

I have a theory that QBs with new fangled modern names cannot win Super Bowls

Deshaun
Tua
Jalen
Derek
Baker
Kyler
Dak

Ain’t never gonna happen

Give me a QB name and I can tell you if he will ever win a SB based on his name alone

Expanded playoff fields in every sport suck and ruin the regular season. I wish the playoff fields were drastically smaller. Owners would actually have to spend and try to win instead of limping into the playoffs and calling that good enough.

Hot? I'll go nuclear.

Kobe didn't become an NBA legend until after he beat a rape charge. I remember plenty of NBA fans hating on Kobe even when LA was hanging banners. He beats a rape charge and he's Black Mamba stone cold assassin.

Why didn't it explode the last time it was on ESPN (during the peak of ESPN's popularity)?

MLB should go back to two divisions in each league, with only the top team in each division making the playoffs. So two rounds in the playoffs: League Championships and then the World Series.

Baseball has such an element of luck that used to be balanced out by the long regular season. Now everyone is pushing to shorten the regular and expand the playoffs so it's becoming less of who's the "best" team and more who's the "hottest" team going into October. It's also killing the late summer division races that are such an iconic part of MLB.

I support this.

Not really a hot take: the Lakers won their last title cuz they played in a hotel.

Calling Lamar Jackson a fringe top 10 QB is not the burn you think it is

the only way to make baseball relevant again is to openly allow steroids
