Michael Vick would have been unstoppable in the Mike Shanahan offense in his era.

Piggybacking off of this:

Modern coaching has much more to do with offenses shattering records than rule changes. Up until fairly recently, NFL coaches tried to make their players (specifically QBs) fit their predetermined schemes. Putting Vick in offenses that were I formation based and focused on forcing him into being a pocket passer and running as a last result was accepted when he came into the league but is unbelievably stupid in hindsight.

If Vick had come along in this era, where shotgun and spread offenses are more widely accepted and not considered soft or gimmicky in the NFL, he would have been considered an all time great.

Until he killed all them dogs, dawg.

Modern offenses shine because of significant improvements in communication and advances in technology. The athletes today are “superior” to those 20-30 years ago in a negligible degree.

Those “improvements” to athlete’s regimens and nutrition are just new PEDs that aren’t covered under old policies nor are they tested for.

Sabermetrics regarding the three point line has made nba basketball less interesting to watch.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler (RIP) was the greatest middleweight of all-time.

The 91 Redskins are the most underrated NFL team of all-time.

NCAA basketball is being ruined by refs who want to be the stars of the game.

I refuse to believe there is any real oversight either.

I can get on board with this. They never get mentioned among the best teams of all time, but statistically, they're right there with anyone. That team ran roughshod through the league.

Giving up too many assets and players for a top QB is a horrible strategy

Buying all the big name players in free agency to set up a ‘super team’ rarely pans out. Too many superstars and egos and not enough role players can lead to failure

The ending of one possession basketball games drives me absolutely insane, especially in college. 90% of the time, some jackass just throws up a prayer while being double teamed instead of playing team ball and making the extra pass

Basketball referees are absolutely horrible, and the way they call/don’t call fouls makes the games borderline unwatchable for casual fans

Dak Prescott is horribly overrated

Small town high school football is a national treasure

Unwritten rules of baseball can be a little petty, but are necessary

Offensive production in the nfl is severely inflated because of improved playcalling, simple underneath crossing routes and run routes, and increased officiating of defensive penalties

And for my most unpopular hottake:

Mahomes, while being a good QB, is overrated. He’s not some generational talent. Yes, he has a cannon of an arm, but he greatly benefits from an awesome offensive system that’s made his number easy to get

CFB is dead.

Thanks Bama and your partner in crime, ESPN.

You won.

And nobody gives a shite anymore. Empty titles, full of sound and fury that signify nothing.
