He is 60-38 as HC for .610 winning percentage.
Seems like he may have an offputting personality, but - objectively - the guy can coach.

He doesn't have a bad overall record but he's disappointed way more than he's surpassed expectation. After the miracle first year at Houston they get in the top 10 then lose 3 conference games. Even the highwater mark at Texas is a 4 loss season with two to teams with losing records. His FAU tenure was an instant regret by fricking FAU.

One of my good buddies played at Rice in the 90s and was fairly prominent within the Rice world. When Herman was there as an assistant they were good buddies and both lived in my neighborhood. He said when Herman got his first head job at UH he turned into a completely different person and was a total prick.
