I think it's way more likely than not that Mercedes will continue to dominate all or most of the field under the new regs. They've spent the past 2 years on developing the 2022 car and the spot that they have the biggest advantage (engines) isn't changing.

I certainly hope we can get a regular 3 team fight at the front under the new regs but don't fool yourself into thinking Merc's championship days are over.

Honda has stated they are having some issues with power/fuel. Could be sandbagging or a problem they solve before lights out.

With the tennis player stuff in Australia I wonder how that plays into the GP. It is scheduled for early April.

Curious about that as well, i remember prior to the 2021 cancellation it was said Australia wanted F1 to guarantee zero Covid cases would come from their coming in and racing, which is pretty much impossible. So F1 cancelled since they were concerned Australia would do something stupid like pulling the plug last minute.

It makes no sense for Merc or Lewis to say anything at this point. Keep the other teams guessing...plus it keeps the proverbial pressure on the FIA to make some changes.

Didn't RB assume full responsibility for its PU this year? Is Honda still consulting/involved?

I believe Honda is still involved until the end of 2022. Turnover and such, easing the transition.

Not sure if their name will still be on the powerunit though.

There's no way Lewis doesn't race in 2022.

However, I think it will be his last whether he wins or loses.

I saw a commentator on Sky Sports saying that he has heard that Lewis may take a sabbatical year and then come back. That's really the only scenario I could see where he doesn't race this year...but isn't retired.

If F1 had a significantly different new engine formula they might be in some peril but as it stands they would seem to be the odds on favorite.

I can live without the red cars in front, I did it for 19 years prior to 1999 but even when Ferrari is winning a one horse (or cavallino) race is just not much fun.

F1 is all about drama. Its like a European mans soap opera.

I'm not a Hamilton fan, but the only reason he wont be in a car is if him and cam newtons clothing line takes off.

Lewis

Start paying attention to how chunky the soles of his street shoes are in pictures, particularly when he is around other people.

Maybe all the drivers do something similar trying to look taller than they are.

The odd thing I have noticed about Lewis and height is while he is almost always been well under the median height for the grid he has almost always been one of the top 2-3 heftiest. Always struck me as odd in a game of grams, but being fair he isn't a JPM type.

Google says he’s 5’8 160lbs.

A little smaller than I thought.

Really a bump (since Joe Burrow took over the first few pages) more than anything really worthwhile but I am rewatching the 2021 season and currently on the Portuguese GP. In the late stages, Perez was leading the race since he hadn't pitted yet. Lewis was catching him up and was calling for blue flags. I chuckled, how easy do you want it man? It was great drive by HAM though, won by ~30 second over Max.

At that point in the season he didn't expect Perez in front of him.

Ok, which grandstand? I'm leaning towards M.

Spanish Grand Prix Tickets

Then again main grandstand for the pre race, the start, the pits and the ceremony at the end could be a lot of fun.

Upper sections of E and K look pretty solid. Get to watch the passing action coming into T1, and then also see them go down and back up through T5-9.

I always choose the top rows of the turn 1 grandstands at Barcelona that are E and F. The friends we usually go with prefer the main straight where you get to see more varied stuff besides the racing. So we usually switch off except for circuits we go every year and keep getting better tickets over time.

High in E&F you get a decent main straight view then watch them through 1, 2 and part of 3. The you can actually see them come out of 4 then through 5-8. There is a bunch of trees that you know keep growing between E&F and curve 4-8 so my guess would be F farther from the start/finish or E closer to the start finish. I would prioritize higher up than left to right though.

The issue with the M grandstand is it is over in the hilly part of the track and you can't sasee much of the track outside what is in front of you as with other grandstands.

I am going from memory here though!

Bottas got a nice parting gift from Lewis and Merc, his car from his first win with Merc, the 2017 Russian GP.

ETA forgot to mention Kimi is now the team principal for the works Kawasaki Racing Team in MXGP.
