Romagna wasn’t a speed issue for Mercedes. Hamilton spun out, somehow recovered and still finished second. So both teams had missteps. I’m not suggesting he’s much faster but LH still has an edge on Verstappen. I’m ready to see a change also btw. Would love for Norris or Perez to step up.

Norris has had a great start to the season and is the top midfield driver so far this year. Love to see it.

Lando, Leclerc, Perez and Gasly to me are guys with raw speed who can grow into champs. Just need the right car.

He only recovered and finished second because of the red flag. He would have been 4th or worse had that red flag not happened.

Max went wide in Bahrain and went wide in Portugal quali, both giving gifts to Merc.

Not sure if Max sitting on the pole in quali would have translated to a win this weekend with how Hamilton was able to track him down so easily. The quali setups did not work in the race for Max and Bottas.

Both Max and Bottas were running new aero packages for the weekend and Perez and Hamilton were on previous packages.

And if he hadn’t spun and damaged his car, he could well have won that race also. He was actually almost half a second a lap slower due to front wing damage. Just like Red Bull had missteps, Mercedes did also. Both gave gifts.

I'm hearing a lot about Bottas getting the axe at Mercedes.

For what result?

Not saying it won't happen, but Merc is leading the championship and Bottas isn't struggling. He was sitting on pole and would possibly have finished 2nd had the exhaust sensor not knocked his race off.

I have seen the reports, but that is crazy to think this early in the season. GR is the future and will do great. But that is a gamble putting GR in a car not built around him. Going to be some issues to overcome.

and still finished second.

Only because of a very fortuitous safety car.

Merc had a clear race pace advantage especially on the harder tires. Bottas would probably have finished second if not for the sensor failure

Apparently, they're disappointed that he "went flat" while they were trying to get him to run down Max.

Wolff may reconsider Bottas radio messages after pace ‘flatlined’

Wolff sounds like a narcissistic douchebag, btw.

You know it’s easy to blame the likes of bottas and albon who seemingly underperform compared to their team mates but there’s a pecking order and they don’t get the same team attention until they prove to be consistently faster. I’m watching Perez closely to see if he can do better than Albon did. Can’t be easy for them.

RB putting in work, glad to see they are going all in on their PU

Momentum continues to build for Red Bull’s new Formula 1 power unit project, as they announced the signing of five more engine personnel from rivals Mercedes on Thursday…

Last month, Red Bull revealed Ben Hodgkinson, who held the role of Head of Mechanical Engineering at Mercedes HPP, would be Red Bull Powertrains’ new Technical Director. Speaking in Portugal last week, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said more signings were on the way, and on the eve of the Spanish Grand Prix, the four-time world champions have announced five new recruits.

Steve Blewett, who was Mercedes HPP’s Head of Manufacturing for more than a decade and Production Manager at Williams previously, will become Production Director, while Omid Mostaghimi swaps his role as Mercedes’ F1 electronics team leader to become Head of Powertrains Electronics and ERS.

We know that success will only be achieved by bringing in the best and brightest talent Red Bull boss Christian Horner Pip Clode, Mercedes’ F1 Power Unit Concept Team Leader, joins as Head of Mechanical Design ERS, while Steve Brodie leaves his role as Trackside and Final Inspection Manager to become Group Leader ICE Operations. Anton Mayo will be Head of PU Design ICE, having been Engineering Team Leader at Mercedes.

“Red Bull’s mission to bring all aspects of its Formula 1 operations in-house through Red Bull Powertrains is an enormously exciting undertaking but also an extremely demanding one, and we know that success will only be achieved by bringing in the best and brightest talent, by providing them with the right tools and by creating the right environment in which they can thrive,” said Horner.

I saw the rumors, getting rid of Bottas didn't make any sense to me, why? And who would they put in his place?

The rumors are from George Russell fan boys?

Lets input the guy responsible for Bottas not being #3 in the drivers standing.

GR knows he has a seat next year and Bottas knows short of a championship he is going somewhere else. Hence GR's comment after the crash about Bottas racing him too hard.

What?! Never. I'm insulted. Us Russell fanboys are too civilized to start petty rumors like that. That sounds like a rumor a Dutch person would say to try and get under Bottas' skin. You can't trust the Dutch. They're sneaky and they talk funny.

Sidenote, the Dutch GP financial backer has said he may cancel the event if fans aren't allowed.

Wants the orange wave there to fawn over Verstappen.
