I didn't expect Haas to come in and kick arse or anything but their performance is embarrassing.

They didn’t show the live driver of the day poll leaders and took a long time to announce the “winner.” As expected, Mazepin won but they overruled it and gave it to Perez.

Hilarious

I was wondering what was the deal. Lando might have deserved it more than Perez.

Well, I think they accepted that when they froze spending to focus on 2022.

Looks like Zak Brown is going to have to honor the offer to Patricio O'ward and see what he can do in a F1 car.

eta: Zak just responded "see you in Abu Dhabi" to Pat'O.

Speaking of, there should be an IndyCar Season thread. It looks like a lot more even competition, new faces, and great racing than in years past.

Indy has some great young drivers. It has been fun seeing these young guys go toe to toe with the veteran drivers. I wish more people would give it a chance because it has some great drivers and great racing.

Nikita given a penalty point on his license for ignoring blue flags yesterday. I didn't expect much from him but so far he's shown he has no business in F1. At what point does his dad reconsider dumping money into(or buying) Haas for his son to flail around like a shite sandwich? Atleast with Stroll he's shown to be modestly competitive.

Season so far looks like more of the same. Maybe Red Bull have closed the gap a tiny bit but it’s still the Hamilton and Mercedes show. Perez is an improvement over Albon maybe.

This is the first weekend Merc looks to have any kind of advantage over RBR.

Two missteps by VER on turn 14 kept RBR racing from having pole and fastest lap.

Rosberg called out Red Bull for this. Saying that it was inexcusable that they gave up this race and I think RBR would agree. Merc's top speed on the straight was amplified by the DRS.

I have actually enjoyed this Indy season so far. Lots of great young guys, and older guys who have skill.

I’m gonna need a Drive to Survive: Indy Cars, to decide if I should watch it or not.

The Scott Dixon documentary is pretty good but its just so funny the level of budget differences between the two.

F1 vs INDY is almost lol funny when comparing the teams and tech.

But Indy is still badass, cars effing fly.

I can see how on paper it may look that way but that's pretty inaccurate. Red Bull haven't done themselves any favors yet this season and it just so happens those missteps have fallen right into Mercedes(mostly Lewis') hands. Red Bull has had the better car in 2 of the 3 races.

Right now it should be 2-1 Max/Lewis with Max in the lead, not the other way round and the constructors fight tighter than it is. I think we'll see Perez continuing to improve but his early results haven't helped their cause much.

Romagna wasn’t a speed issue for Mercedes. Hamilton spun out, somehow recovered and still finished second. So both teams had missteps. I’m not suggesting he’s much faster but LH still has an edge on Verstappen. I’m ready to see a change also btw. Would love for Norris or Perez to step up.

Norris has had a great start to the season and is the top midfield driver so far this year. Love to see it.

Lando, Leclerc, Perez and Gasly to me are guys with raw speed who can grow into champs. Just need the right car.

He only recovered and finished second because of the red flag. He would have been 4th or worse had that red flag not happened.

Max went wide in Bahrain and went wide in Portugal quali, both giving gifts to Merc.

Not sure if Max sitting on the pole in quali would have translated to a win this weekend with how Hamilton was able to track him down so easily. The quali setups did not work in the race for Max and Bottas.

Both Max and Bottas were running new aero packages for the weekend and Perez and Hamilton were on previous packages.

And if he hadn’t spun and damaged his car, he could well have won that race also. He was actually almost half a second a lap slower due to front wing damage. Just like Red Bull had missteps, Mercedes did also. Both gave gifts.

I'm hearing a lot about Bottas getting the axe at Mercedes.

For what result?

Not saying it won't happen, but Merc is leading the championship and Bottas isn't struggling. He was sitting on pole and would possibly have finished 2nd had the exhaust sensor not knocked his race off.

I have seen the reports, but that is crazy to think this early in the season. GR is the future and will do great. But that is a gamble putting GR in a car not built around him. Going to be some issues to overcome.
