I didn't realize FP1 had started until I saw a tweet: MazeSpin off at Turn 8.

Kubica substituting for Räikkönen in FP1. Williams has someone driving in place of Russell as well.

Great to see the Romain videos yesterday with respect to Mercedes...what a car to finish his career.....it is just practice, but big ups to Toto for this.

Is that crash the best thing to happen to Romain’s popularity? Did anyone like him before it?

I thought he seemed like a good guy with a lot of bad luck prior to the fire. I most definitely respect him for getting back into racing afterwards.

I’m a Danny fan so I’m obviously biased but I just think he’s having a hard time adjusting to the new car. Maybe he’s lost a step from his Red Bull days but he still looked pretty damn good last year. I still think he can fight/get podiums and maybe a win.

Eta Danny has said it’s the brakes. If you’re a late braker like he is I can see how that would take a while to get used to

Alpine putting a good showing in FP2 so far. Maybe they have figured some things out for the year.

I think people who're relatively new to F1 in the last ~5 years(myself included) don't have much appreciation for Grosjean's career as an F1 driver. More often than not he was a backmarker, but the guy has been around for about a decade in the sport.

RoGro had some high profile bonehead moves and that sort of became his meme. Kind of like how everyone waits for Mazespin to do a 180 these days.

The Spa crash of his could be seen as costing Alonso another world championship.

Woof Red Bull is slow so far. Mercedes seems to have the advantage this weekend, no shocker this year. But if RB falls back to the midfield in this race, going to be trouble staying up there in the championship with Mercedes.

I don't know what was up with RBR in FP2. Merc threw out a lot better time on mediums than Max could on softs. Maybe it was feul load or something, but Max came in for one lap on softs and it was not good at all.

Max definitely didn't seem happy after so it seems more actual performance than them doing race sim or fuel load.

Yeah, I can't stop laughing when someone is trying to warm up their tires and hits the wall.

Abiteboul vowed to make Ricciardo regret leaving for McLaren. I didn't think they could pull it off, but it would be great to see these two teams mix it up all year.

Cyril left too. New role is still Renault/Alpine related, but no longer team boss.

Apparently he is still down for the tattoo though.

Not to mention Grosjean's incredibly reckless Spa wipeout could have easily killed Alonso.
