Christian Horner interview: ‘Max Verstappen will not resort to crash tactics – he’s a better driver than Lewis Hamilton’

Better driver or not, Lewis is in a missile at the moment and Max is going to have to defend his arse off (including blurring the lines of what is deemed acceptable in F1)

It's gonna be entertaining, I'm sure. Like others ITT said, Max needs to keep his cool- seemed like everything in Jeddah was aggravating him

Looks like Yas Marina went ahead and upgraded their kerbs this year as well.

To the same kerb style that were used in Qatar.

Should make tire strategy interesting since Pirelli are bringing their 3 softest compounds.

Possible two-stopper?

He's getting DOTD for sure. The in-car interview will be more awkward than normal.

This will be the first F1 race after the relatively drastic changes to try to improve overtaking opportunities. Basically they took the kinks out of the switchbacks at the long ends of the triangle and relaxed another couple of curves. Seems like that could help Hamilton if he has the faster car but winds up behind Max.

Here's an article showing the changes:

It's really cool that Yas made changes to the track that were almost exactly what Max and Lewis asked for in 2019 during the post race interview.

FIA warning they're willing to deduct points, not just time penalties if the boys dont play nice this weekend

I'm sure they'll be deducting points logically and consistently.

Deduct season total +1 from everyone, they're all guilty by association.

MAZ hasn't been involved in anything and suffers no penalty. Mazepin wins his first WDC!!!

Its too bad Albon isn't in the race, he'd do the bidding for RB after Hamilton fricked him twice.

Just disqualify Max for the entire 2022 season if he wants 1990 Japan.

Just read about one of them, 5 seconds/2 points/license point.

Quote in the article from Marko:

quote:

“The difference is: Perez has more consistency,” he stated. “When he gets his qualifying sessions right, like second in Imola or third at the Red Bull Ring, those are results that Albon didn’t have. And in the race, he’s almost at Verstappen level when he has a clear run.”
