Our seats in turn 12 were fantastic, we considered GA but there’s no way I want to fight bringing a chair and holding a spot and getting there hours before any action started.
Yeah, my friends that ended up going said they would have rather watched online than GA. Said if they do it again, they want seats.
So next year, if I end up going, I'll be shooting for seats.

Basically every driver after the race looked like they got the shite kicked out of them. Sunburnt and sweating their asses off
I'm guessing Austin is probably one of, if not the hottest race of the season for them?

With that 500mm lens, we could do facial recognition across at the very top left corner of the stands at Turn 1, which is approximately 975 meters away from our seats per Google maps. When he has the pics ready, I'll post a selection.
Everything was shot in RAW. When I get pics to share I will post here.

It is probably up there. Singapore and Malaysia were always known for their heat.
The desert races run at night to try and combat the problem.

I'll be moving back to seats for Sunday. Saturday wasn't too bad and it was great to walk around and see the track, but rather have that known good view on Sunday.
So many more people than years in the past. All the GA stuff is packed full.

Said there were 400k people there this weekend vs maybe 280k 2018? That’s wild.

This season has delivered big time. I'm a casual fan who usually watches a few races here and there but I got hooked early this year and have been loving it. Max vs Lewis is a legit battle for the ages.

Was just sitting next to Guenther in the lounge at the airport. Talked a little, super nice guy.
This weekend was insanity. I’ll try and get some photos up later. I’d recommend it to anyone. There is something special about seeing those cars in person.

Cool, I figured as such
Are they going to make Miami a night-time race too? Would be cool for the US GP's to provide some variety in all aspects

Yeah and Lewis said in post-race he hoped for more US races.
They should do Miami, Austin, and a west coast city.

Vegas keeps coming up as a likely venue. Will probably be a street circuit if it happens.
Don't think Miami is planned for a night race. Takes a lot of lighting to make that happen.

This is spot on.
This is the 4th race I have been to at COTA, first one I went to I only went sunday and walked in about 10 minutes before the race started and found a spot (not awesome but not terrible) to post up with my chair and had a solid view.
Last couple of years we have sat just after turn one and could see a ton of track. that spot is now a grandstand, so had to find a new spot this year. We found a spot at turn 16 between the bridge and the tower that had a view of turn 1, 2, and 16 and a bit of 14. we walked in around 10am for a 2pm race and had to search for a spot.
It has gotten way too crowded to be dealing with GA seating and I will be going to grandstands next time. Maybe the miami race will take some pressure off of COTA

I don’t know what type of deal F1 has with ESPN/ABC for distribution, but ESPN does very little to promote the sport. On the drop down on the ESPN mobile site, F1 is the 18th sport listed, just above Little League World Series but after generic college sports, cricket, and Chalk. On the TV App, F1 is also buried down and grouped into auto racing. Practice sessions and Qualifying were on ESPNews (not in my $180 cable package) or the Spanish broadcast. Imagine if ESPN put in the effort to promote F1 as they do the WNBA. On a global scale, these are some of the biggest names in sports and celebrity. ESPN is missing the boat.

their return on F1 is probably pretty high considering they use Sky sports feed and don't have to pay for their own people to travel anywhere, most races are airing at 6am on the 2nd or 3rd ESPN channel, so not taking up any really valuable airtime.
they are probably just happy with what they are getting out of it and not worried about growing it more and competing with other programming.

Have to think ESPN is getting a steal. They took the F1 coverage from NBC a few years ago right before the series started to take off. ESPN puts in no production value or coverage and any articles on their site are usually just copies from another source.
Mother's stepped up after the first week or so to pay to cover the races without commercials. Which had made the experience much better, but other than that ESPN seems to be happy being the middle man just putting out prepacked coverage.

So realistically, barring some unforeseen circumstance like a wreck or whatnot, where do we see this thing falling out?
Mexico, Brazil, Qatar, Saudi, and Abu left.
Hamilton will almost certainly take a new engine at some point based off of the Bottas move. Which track?
2019/2020 winner at remaining tracks.
Hamilton - Mexico 2019, Abu 2019
Max - Brazil 2019, Abu 2020

You can't count HAM out until he's mathematically eliminated, but Max has very rarely been beaten the last few months without being incapacitated in some way.
Baku - tire blowout while leading
Silverstone - Wrecked by Hamilton
Hungary - Drove the 99% of the race with the side of his car missing
Monza - Wrecked himself and Hamilton
Russia - Power unit penalty, started 20th still finished 2nd
Turkey - Beaten by Bottas, straight up.
He's won 8/17 races and has lead more laps than the rest of the grid combined. At this point I don't expect that to change in the final stretch.

Be interesting to see how they would do with a 500 mile summer NASCAR race in the South
Danny Ric said Dale’s old Monte Carlo was ‘hot’

I can only imagine the toll driving an F1 car takes on the body. Even when it's not hot out the drivers usually look completely spent after the race.
It was even worse for Checo, he didn't have "the drink" yesterday. That was not a race where you would want to be unable to stay hydrated.
I wonder if it was leaking in his boots like Kimi's drinking system is wont to do?

Alternative take...
ESPN distributes Sky’s content. ESPN gets paid and is doing exactly what they are supposed to do. Is there app or stand alone option to get Sky in the US? If not, Sky should deliver their own content and use the distribution money to advertise.
