That's interesting. I just heard them earlier mention a one stop strategy for the guys starting on mediums. Hopefully you're right and there will be some mixed strategies.
The only thing that makes me think we might still get a one stop race is based on last weeks tire deg. The lap times were really consistent even on older tires.
Yeah I heard this track was easy on tires. But with the C2 not available it's going to be trickier, and as recently as the French GP almost everyone went with the one-stop strategy, but a two-stopper was the winning strategy — and Bottas was left bitterly complaining that he wanted a two-stopper but no one would listen to him. I hope more teams will do split strategies between their two drivers, and that the win comes down to two cars on different strategies, just like the French GP.

Novice question... I know they have to use two different sets of tires in the race and I thought they had to start on the tires they did their best time in Q2 on?
Why are Russell and Max on softs when they qualied on Med?
Can they choose to start oppo but have to use Med after 1st stop?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe teams will usually send their cars out to the grid on a different set of tires than their race set in the event something goes wrong on the out lap. Just a couple weeks ago Sainz flat spotted the hell out of his tires when going from the pits to the grid, but they weren’t his race set so it wasn’t a big deal.

Barring any accidents, Max may never lose again. He and that RB team are on another level this year.

They have 3 levels of tires - soft, medium and hard but several sets of each for the weekend, something around 7 softs, 3 med and 2 hard.
You’re right, they start the race on the same tires you set your fastest lap on Q2. Max is on the medium.
