that's a drastic step down there and strange that he would do that .. i wonder if he was still under contract with clear channel at the time they shut 1210 down and they just moved him over there ... depending on what time that show is on, there are very very few radio listeners on sunday morning .. once again, get the guy a fricking CO HOST !!! he can't do a sports show on his own ...

Also, if WJBO still does Tiger Express, keeping Condon makes sense - they've got to have SOMEBODY who can talk sports.

There was talk when I was there of still doing an LSU pre and post game show like they did with Tiger Express but it was just that - talk. There was nothing definite as far as I know. The contract with Pelican Broadcasting ends after the BCS title game so who knows if they're going to renew it.

They also aren't willing to preempt regular programming (Rush, Hannity, Berry) to air a BCS championship show.

Condon is the only Clear Channel employee, outside of the two board ops that worked at 1210, that know anything about sports.

Also, in reference to the Business Report article, Bob Murphy calls sports radio a very "niche audience" but isn't that the same with gospel?

its sort of like the episode of the office where dwight hires the stripper and once she doesn't strip he makes her answer phones because she was paid for 3 hours of work

quote:

Dwight: Elizabeth, I want you to sit here. When the phone rings, answer it.
Elizabeth: You want me to answer phones with my clothes on.
Dwight: We hired you for three hours work and we're going to get it.

Not sure if that chick producing Condons show really knew much about sports.

It should be a fun show when Condon does return......I wonder how long it will take for him to go off on people who question where he has been?

Anyone know if Ott has been on the Pelican? I've checked each morning to stream the website, but so far just hunting.

Condon has a Mon.-Fri. job selling wood. Sun. am may very well suit him better due to not having to work that day as well as only being once a week. He does it because he enjoys it. Condon has said on a regular basis that his show is not for everyone and that he is not into "breaking it down" when it comes to doing a sports show. His claim is that he is trying to provide entertainment for those that enjoy it. He has also made it clear he is not counting on his show to support his family and pay his bills.
I know he has made me laugh and "unwind" many a time on my way home. Maybe this new Sun. show will be different in regard to his attention to sports. We'll see.

and someone made a good point the other day .. with the economy as stagnant as it is, i wouldn't be surprised if his employer didn't tell him it was time to work until 6 everyday ... if he's under contract with them, they still have to pay him through the end of it which means he makes the same money to only work two hours a week for them instead of 10 .. with a couple of extra hours a day during the week, he should make more money at his sales job .. this is probably a good thing for richard financially if he can kick his demon ..

Supposedly Ott will be the permanent co-host with Hanagriff but that's just something I've heard. Not sure how true it is.

Also, Richard's job selling wood stresses him to the max. That's one of the reasons why his demons came back. He's been wanting to get on with Clear Channel full time so all he has to worry about doing is prepping for a radio show instead of having to fill out sales reports and try to sell wood in this economy.

Hope this is true, would have 2 of the best hosts in this market. Now all they need to do is strengthen the signal.

i think this will be a GREAT show and jimmy comes out of this whole thing smelling like a rose if true ... i hope it's true, because this would be really good for the market ... and i totally agree about the signal, although i just don't know what can be done right now with it ..

eta: in fact, if this is true, they need to flip flop that lineup and put those guys on from 3 to 6 and move moscona to 11 to 1 ... together, that show will be LIGHT YEARS better than moscona ..

Put Moscona on from 7-9AM and go national from 9AM to 3PM.

guranty's hands are tied a bit since, from what i understand, part of their affiliate agreement with ESPN radio was that you have to carry mike & mike without a preempt as well as the herd .. apparently they were able to work something out on that last hour of the herd .. or maybe the last hour of the herd is not required ... but at any rate .. moscona is not as good as those two will be together ..
