Good article. Based on numbers

LINK

"If it were up to me — and I grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, where you could literally hear the roar of the crowd from Spartan Stadium in my backyard on game days — the Big Ten would have stopped expanding after 12 teams. Penn State, added in 1990, and Nebraska, in 2011, were natural-enough fits:..........."

Notre Dame and Missouri fit geographically in the conference.

Notre Dame, Miami, Florida State and (perhaps to a lesser extent) Oregon, Washington, Stanford and California.

Post-LA team Exodus, 5 of these schools look great.

If the other two jump, Pornhub should consider adding a new category called ‘Bordergore’

That's the thing, unfortunately. No one cares what the average fan wants. It's all about TV contracts and dollars, fans be damned.

Can't wait for Ole Miss to get stuck in the new SEC West a/k/a the Big XII/Southwest Conference plus LSU and the Mississippi schools

Academic ranking (3x multiplier), from U.S. News & World Report.

That alone tells me Nate Silver is clueless when it comes to understanding methodology.

US News & World Report rankings are a joke in the world of research universities.

Yep

The whole sport has been blown up and realigned to the point where it’s going to be unrecognizable in a few years

All in the pursuit of more money. NONE of the changes have been about the fans or what the fans want. It’s all about tv deals and realignment

No shite. It's almost as if people don't know why Vandy has kept their SEC membership for all of these years, and it isn't because of their academics.

Their status as a private school means the SEC doesn't have to respond to FOIA requests. Vandy isn't going anywhere.

On behalf of the the Southeastern Conference, I will waive any buyout fees if the Big10 will take Missouri.

Missouri was a mistake by the SEC. There was no compelling reason to take them. TAMU at the time was a good choice but there were and are better options than Missouri.

Access to two major league sports markets that already bordered an SEC state?

Granted the football hasn’t been great but the SEC can’t have 14 Alabamas
