This is the most sacrosanct rule in all of sports and he destroyed it.
On top of that the ruling is completely absurd. Tech should have drawn a line here and didn’t.
They should be kicked out of the Big 12.

If a biased local court can negate NCAA rules the NCAA has no enforceable rules.
Bama could start Tua, Derrick Henry and Julio Jones next year and there would be zero anyone could do about it.
This judge created a precedent that only federal legislation could fix.

I think it’s mostly rooted in the idea that an individual judge doesn’t control the game at the end of the day - schools can do things like refuse to play certain schools if the rules aren’t being followed. I think that’s it’s Texas Tech, maybe the team most advancing itself from where it was under this new era, adds fuel to the fire.

Not gambling on your own games may be the most important rule in sports.
If you can't understand that, then I don't know what to tell you.

Wait until some judge says the Big-12 can not kick them out. Claim the Big-12 is a cartel which opens the door to all college sports conferences being broken up including the SEC and B10.
I can see it now: Dear LSU, I am WVU and do you want to play us next year....we have a bunch of open spots. The court in Waco said we have to play schools not in our own conference. I see you have a five open spots after some court in Michigan broke up the SEC. Do you want to play, Signed Wren Baker

I think the conferences and CFP can throw enough at Tech to make them tap out.

This may be the tipping point that gets collective bargaining and/or congress involved. The lawyers who represented Sorsby are the same folks who steered the recent house settlement, for $300M in fees. These guys want to get paid AND fix the sport. The NCAA and in my mind, the Sorsby lawyers, both saw this "quick" injunction to force the collective bargaining/congressional action.
Both sides had a chance to negotiate a settlement, in chambers, and dug their heals in and the judge made his ruling. Good may come out of this ridiculous ruling.

Hopefully Texas Tech gets the death penalty at the end of this. For all sports.

He was on the roster and on the depth chart. Which means there's always a possibility that injuries or poor play by the guys ahead of him would mean he gets subbed into a game that he had a wager on

Seems to be, unless we’re talking about Pete Rose. (ETA I’m talking here about the fans who continue to cry over his exclusion from the HoF). Because he was really, really good.

Exclusion from Hall of Fame and never playing/coaching again are different things.
He was banned from the sport, which was appropriate.

At least for me its not even the gambling of it all
Its that the supposed governing body made a decision and all they had to do to get around it was get a judge who absolutely has political reasons to play the game (even if it wasn't an actual Lubbock judge) and gave him go lol nah
What is to stop anyone else from doing this? This isnt the first time this has ever happen but it is the most brazen.
This is just really rubbing everyone's nose in the fact that the sports governing body doesn't matter and when that is the case, why does any of this matter

IDK why TT is dying on this hill
This is the part that baffles me.
I’ve never seen college football more unified in anything than against this Sorsby ruling.
I get that Tech boosters spent a lot of money on Sorsby but it’s not like he’s Cam Newton or Tim Tebow that’s a slam dunk QB guaranteed to get them to a playoff.
Is the rest of the Tech QB room so bad that Tech really wants to piss off all of college football for a single season with Sorsby at QB and risk their future in all of college sports?

No, but this seems to be the new talking point of braindead morons who want their teams to openly cheat.
Not to mention it’s not just the big schools and their fans that are against this. Pretty much everyone is

It doesn’t matter. College sports is about money and money only. Let it all fricking roll
