Honestly the Pelicans don’t have a greatest player ever… CP3 and AD don’t deserve it for how they left. Jrue Holiday? David West?

Top 5 in franchise history in points, assists, & rebounds, among many other categories

I’d go with Elton Brand over Griffin

Bill Walton for Portland? I know he was injured pretty much his entire career. But he did bring a title.

There’s a 5yr qualifier for the OP’s game. Walton played 4.

Yeah, not at all. Brand wasn’t better than anything except defense

Once again, the NBA record books don’t count OG Hornets with the Pelicans.
That would be the same as counting the Ravens and the OG Browns together.
FTR, I would, but the leagues say otherwise.
Pels-AD
Hornets-Larry Johnson

Lakers is maybe debatable between Kareem and Magic, but that is about it.
With Magic, they made the NBA Finals in 9 of his 12 seasons and won 5 of them. Magic won 3 Finals MVPs and 3 league MVPs in 12 years.
Kareem has 1 more title with the Bucks, 6 league MVPs, and 2 Finals MVPs (only one with the Lakers).
If you want to argue Kobe, he is overrated.
He had 2 Finals MVP (and 1 wasn't even deserved as Gasol should have gotten it in 2010), 1 league MVP, 5 NBA titles in 7 Finals appearances including one where he derailed a team for the ages.
Kobe also needed 2 more years to get to his 4th and 5th title than Magic had in his entire career.
This is why I always laugh when people try to claim Kobe as the greatest Laker. The statistics don't back it up other than scoring points as a Laker.

Michael Cage has to be in the conversation for the Clippers. He was the Clippers and only thing they had for years.

McAdoo was traded in his 5th year. So he didn't technically play 5 seasons for the Clippers. I don't guess he counts.
But, Good Lord that guy put up some monsters numbers with them. 30+/12+/2+bpg in 3 straight seasons and he only missed 12 games total in those years. That is insane..

quote:Well I'll always pick Magic , but I'm not totally dismissive if someone picks Kobe. Although I'm not all in on the longevity argument when Kobe was the leader of the worst period in franchise history his last 3 seasons( 27/ 21 & 17 wins). The post Shaq era wasn't all that great for a couple seasons thanks in some part to Kobe.

Kareem played on some extremely talented teams pre Magic , but those 4/5 years were a disappointment. Kareem played with Hofers like Gail Goodrich first. Then a couple disappointing seasons with Hof'ers Jamaal Wilkes & Adrian Dantley & very solid Norm Nixon. Things didn't take off until Magic arrived & didn't drop off much when Kareem was less a factor his last 2 seasons & after his retirement. Magic made Showtime.
