ESPN just reported again that it’s happening on the 6th. The Lakers won’t pull any frickery because no one will ever deal with them again as long as Pelinka is there.

I think everyone just wants it done. The Lakers will be fine. In fact...I think they are much better filling out their roster with a bunch of decent players.

was probably part of the trade that if the Lakers are in line to get ??? max player then they would then add in XYZ trade compensation to have the effective date pushed to late July.
it IS

depends on the 30th and who lake show have interest from in FA

Weren't you one of those "Lakers will never get AD, anything they can offer is awful/absolute trash" people?

I think your opinion is pretty worthless, imho fwiw ijs.

Would Griffin really take AD back over a date switch in a deal where he destroyed the Lakers?

I’m not trying to be a smartass. Just saying it might be worth it to force Griffin to make this decision. Put the ball in his court.

That isn’t going to happen. Griffin is a well liked, well respected guy. He would not only nuke the deal, but every other team would refuse to deal with the Lakers on any major level as long as Pelinka is there, and the media would crush them.

I don’t doubt it.

I just think it would be a good idea for Pelinka to tell Griffin, “I fricked up. But I’m sending this trade in on the 30th. You can either do the same or enjoy another year of lame AD.”

IF the Lakers can get Kawhi, then I see no reason not to do that anyways. What would be the cons?

The rest of the league would not...react favorably AND no AD

Oh yeah and they likely infuriate LeBron and leave their disgruntled young guys on the roster

Like most Pelicans fans, I absolutely did not want him in LA. I will not go back on that. Griffin had to make a business decision.

Coming from the guy with a Kawahi Leonard Lakers avatar, it pretty much shows everyone how to value your opinion.

Explain how that would be a “good idea”?

No team would ever make a deal with the Lakers again, unless the entire organization was wiped clean?

Why nuke your organization when you can just tell Griffin, "I fricked up, how about we give you swap rights on the 2025 pick, rather than a deferment option on 2024, and we move the date back to July 30th?"

Exactly.

Pelinka is a shite head. If I’m the Lakers I’m telling him to pull this move. It either works or I get to fire him.

I think there’s a solid chance Griffin agrees to enter the trade on the 30th. He destroyed the Lakers in this trade.

How upset would you be if Griffin refused?

Its pretty easy at this point to say one of two things will happen

1) trade goes down on the 6th as scheduled and no max money available

2)deal gets pushed back to the 30th, Lakers give up extra compensation (and it would have to be somewhat significant because Pels would gain salary just by waiting)

It wasn't a burn it just shows how ridiculous your thought process is

I don't think it stops at Rob. I think it would also taint ownership, moreso than it's already tainted.

So since you don't have a profile pic, does that mean you don't think at all? I mean since these pics mean so much and all that.

The Pelicans lose an 11 million trade exception and like 4 million in cap space by doing it on the 30th.

I know Lakers fans only thing about how things affect them, but why would the Pelicans frick themselves for free?

Be practical for a second. In order for the Lakers to do it they would need to give more value. Which they don’t have. The only scenario I can see is if they change 2024 to conveying, a pick swap in 2025 and another pick in 2026.

All of these teams have to work together again.
