I actually think they might do this. It would not shock me at all of they get guys like Boogie and Melo to sign for cheap. Then maybe they get Deangelo to come back and pick up a JJ Reddick to plug into SG with say the remaining 18-20 million

Rondo/Russell
Reddick
Lebron
AD
Boogie

You have Kuzma off the bench
With Javelle
Lance Stephenson
Caruso
Melo
Other vet minimums

I just feel like we would have heard that from someone on the Lakers side if that was indeed the case. Why keep that a secret?

It is against the CBA for teams to talk about trades prior to being executed.

What’s keeping the Lakers from refusing to send the trade in until the 30th?

From all reports, it's been agreed to for the 6th. What's the keep the Lakers from backing out on an agreed to trade? I would guess a bit of integrity, and the repercussions around the league that would occur if they back out upon an agreed to deal. Supposedly folks around the league already don't like Pelinka, can you imagine the backlash if he just reneges on a deal like that?

Name the last time team officials talked about a trade prior to it being finalized? Do you know the shite storm second and third order effects this would cause?

this reminds me of something else i thought of earlier and forot to post

if the Lakers pulled out of this deal the NBA would be forced to truly investigate the tampering aspect

like with the leaks you referenced, we all know tampering is rampant in the NBA and it's often ignored. they couldn't ignore it after this, b/c you'd basically have an agent tampering with a player, destroying his value by directing the player to a single franchise, and then THAT franchise reneging on the trade so that it could use this leverage (via tampering) to get a better deal

there is no way on God's green earth the NBA could allow that

Is there any legal ramifications for this happening or is the NBA covered by their CBA?

the Lakers have to pick the Pel's guy at 4

just imagine THAT one aspect of this trade being unfolded b/c the lakers nuke the deal after the draft, then apply it to everything

Right because nothing leaks, especially something as significant as the trade date which has a major impact on what the Lakers can do moving forward

If that "agreement" from Griffin and Pelinka was in place, you would have at least heard a report or two on it.

yeah they have regs on tampering, but this wouldn't be as much focused on the Lakers as much as Rich Paul. they can yank his agent certification

and if they found the Lakers colluded with him to tamper, then they'd be royally fricked. they'd probably lose those draft picks they were dealing to Nola as punishment

Their odds went from +600 to +1500, not the other way around...

It would definitely be a drastic move but if it opens up a max deal that results in Kawhi, wgaf?

Leaks have been wrong many times. Additionally we haven’t heard any leaks from the Lakers side.

MP sets his own lines. You’d be smart to consider them.

The Pels could then just tell the Lakers go to frick themselves

It's not going to happen. If it gets pushed to the 30th, it's because it was negotiated that way (and some sweetener was added from the Lakers side), not because the Lakers just decided to hold it out until then. It also hurts the Pels to push it back, it's not just the Pels wanting to be a pain in the arse.
