In order for the Lakers to do it they would need to give more value. Which they don’t have. The only scenario I can see is if they change 2024 to conveying, a pick swap in 2025 and another pick in 2026

And they have Kuzma......

Didn’t realize the Pels lose out on 11 million if the deal goes through on the 30th

How perfect would it be if Lakers frick up and send remaining picks/swaps plus Kuzma to make Pels push it back?

Their smartest move is to just take the deal on the 6th then pray someone like Jim Butler goes there for a little less or get some solid 3pt shooting.

the smartest move is to get kawhi at all costs. it would be the best three players ever on the same team.

I love how you keep moving the posts, now it just as dumbed down as ever. You're the boards lakers insider, why do you not have more info for us?

So you agree that Lakers are going to have to send out extra to make Pels ok with pushing the deal back and losing salary? Because it's the only way that's happening.

And if they didnt negotiate that yet (highly plausible because it's the Lakers) and I'm David Griffin the first two words out of my mouth are Kyle Kuzma.

That ship has most likely sailed. The real is done. The Lakers don’t really have any value to give.

Basically the last assets they can give are Kuz and 2026. They can’t give any pick beyond 26 because of Billy King Rule and they can’t currently give it under the parameters of the deal because of Stepien. So the whole thing would need to get reworked.

This deal is done. It is what it is.

Wow. Pels might have effectively blocked the Lakers from adding a 3rd star without the Lakers even realizing it when it happened.

I said kawhi was interested months ago

lake show meeting with him this week

if that goes well, the trade with pels might need to be renegotiated

it's still a fluid situation.

The Pelicans lose an 11 million trade exception and like 4 million in cap space by doing it on the 30th

This is correct. The date the trade becomes official is not just a technicality or an oversight (at least not on the Pels end), it has value and makes it a material term. That means it was negotiated to be a specific date. One team cannot just “not turn in the paperwork” for their own benefit and to the others detriment. The Pels, and more importantly the league, would not stand for it.

There are really only three realistic options:
1. It happens the 6th because that’s what they agreed on
2. It happens on the 30th because that’s what was agreed on
3. They agree to move it from the 6th to 30th for an added value

Wait, now I’m confused. Wouldn’t the fact that the Pels are the ones shopping it indicate that the deal is done?

Ooooo I cannot wait to see what consideration the Pels receive to move the date back just IDK what more the Lake Show could offer unless it’s Kuzma and more picks/pick swaps. Regardless, I still like the deal the Pels netted so far and hope it maintains because we really did traderape them.
